Famous country singer Garth Brooks is facing significant backlash for calling boycotters of Bud Light “a**holes” and confirming that he would continue to serve the beer at his Nashville bar. Brooks claimed he would serve “every brand of beer” and “loves diversity.” Brooks’ statements have many calling for a boycott of his bar.
The nineties country artist is set to open his new bar called “Friends in Low Place Bar & Honky Tonk,” named after his famous song “Friends in Low Places.” Some other prominent bars on Broadway, such as Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse and John Rich’s Redneck Riviera Bar & BBQ, have elected to stop serving Bud Light at their establishments following the beer’s decision to partner with Dylan Mulvaney in early April.
Defending his decision to offer Bud Light to customers, Brooks said he wanted his establishment to be the “Chick-fil-A” of bars and claimed he wanted it to be some sort of safe space. The singer said, “I know this sounds corny, I want it to be the Chick-fil-A of honky-tonks … I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another.”
Garth Brooks then confirmed that every beer would be served at the honky tonk and implied that those who seek to boycott Bud Light are a**holes that should take their business elsewhere on Broadway. “And yes, we’re going to serve every brand of beer. We just are. It’s not our decision to make. Our thing is this, if you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a**hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway,” Brooks continued.
Brooks also spoke about his love for “diversity” and being “inclusive,” claiming it is the solution to many problems. “But inclusiveness is always going to be me,” the musician stated. “I think diversity is the answer to the problems that are here and the answer to the problems that are coming. So I love diversity. All inclusive, so all are welcome.” He further stated that if you visit “Friends in Low Place,” you must be open-minded and tolerant.
Many high-profile conservatives have responded to Brooks by calling for a boycott of his bar. Nashville native and conservative commentator Robby Starbuck tweeted that no one should visit Brooks’ bar over his statements. If you live in Tennessee, I recommend you never go to @garthbrooks new bar. They’re going to sell BudLight and apparently he thinks we’re “a**holes” if we don’t like it. Make sure all your friends know that,” he said.

Legendary country singer John Rich also weighed in on Garth Brooks’ decision to sell “every brand of beer.” Rich stated that Brooks’ decision to sell Bud Light was “fine,” but he would discover that no one would order it. Ultimately, it would hinder Brooks’ ability to operate a successful business, Rich claimed. Rich further emphasized the “vicious” attitude toward Bud Light as the boycott against the beer continues to rage on.
