Speaking during a Monday, March 18 interview on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends” during an interview on Monday, an outraged resident of AOC’s crime and prostitution-ridded New York City congressional district sounded off on the state of things, saying that those vices have overrun his community. That community member is named Ramses Frias.
As background, Fox News Digital recently obtained video from Mr. Frias that shows a community in Rep. AOC’s district being overrun by street vendors and street prostitutes, with neither group seeming to be particularly worried about law enforcement involvement in the area or regulation of their activities. The video also shows trash piled up on street corners, a major sanitary issue.
Speaking about the situation in the district, Mr. Frias told “Fox & Friends” that rampant crime and prostitution has taken over streets in the city, saying, “We’ve become sort of this epicenter of crime and prostitution and illegal street vending. It’s taken over many streets.”
Then, explaining which neighborhoods are involved, he added, “It goes all the way from Corona, through Elmhurst and into Jackson Heights. These are three neighboring neighborhoods that are really being hit hard with these problems.”
Continuing, Frias claimed that Rep. AOC stays far away from Roosevelt Avenue, nicknamed the “market of sweethearts” because of the omnipresent prostitution along it. “She doesn’t campaign there, she’s never set foot there. I’ve never seen her on Roosevelt Avenue. This is a few blocks off from where I literally live. I live and breathe this every single day,” he said.
Frias then said he’d be happy to guide AOC through the crime-ridden streets of the neighborhood, saying, “I would gladly give her a tour. I would walk her through everything, let her see exactly how it is and how it’s affecting the quality of life for everybody that lives there.”
Watch Mr. Frias here:
Rep. AOC, in a statement to Fox News about the video of her district, said, “What we are seeing here is the result of anti-immigrant policies that deny immigrants proper work permits and vending licenses, and drive them into the shadows of undignified conditions. This is just one way of many that anti-immigrant policies hurt all of us. Paths to citizenship and work documentation can solve this problem – but Republicans would rather block those so they can film people in their worst moments for views.”
AOC also recently announced in a statement that she secured millions of dollars in funding for her district, saying, “From helping seniors at NYCHA get new elevators, strengthening our shorelines to protect from future storms, increasing accessibility at our public libraries to creating spaces for families and youth to gather and address basic safety needs, I look forward to the more than $12 million we’ve secured this year making life better for neighborhoods across The Bronx and Queens. I want to thank all the applicants for their patience and dedication through the selection process. I will continue fighting so the 14th Congressional District gets every dollar we deserve.”
