Daniel Altman, 25, left his house on April 11th, telling his roommate that he was going to meet a woman. But that’s not what he found. Instead, he was lured to an abandoned residence, where he was brutally murdered by three young men. They then, in cooperation with a young woman with them, stole his car and personal belongings and burned his body to hide it.
Investigator Jalisa Brown, speaking about the killing and ensuing events, said:
“A joint investigation into the incident by Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office and Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office revealed that prior to the vehicle pursuit in Georgetown County, Serenity Jackson and Marquise Mitchum both operated the victim’s vehicle in the Kingstree area of Williamsburg County. The investigation further revealed that Marquise Mitchum was in possession of the victim’s debit card and provided the debit card to Javon Chattine in an effort to retrieve money from an ATM.”
“The joint investigation revealed that the missing person from Georgetown County was lured to an abandoned residence on McAlister Road on April 11, when the victim was ambushed and shot by Javon Chattine, Jakiel Chattine and Marquise Mitchum, causing bodily injury resulting in death.”
Deputies added that, after the murder, the three men involved burned the victim’s body in a nearby, wooded area, and the four then stole his car and personal belongings. In its narrative of what happened, posted to Facebook, the sheriff’s department said:
