Former WWE star Natalie Eva Marie recently credited the radical animal rights group PETA for inspiring her to become a hunter. The ex-wrestler described how, after watching a video about factory farming that PETA released, she felt called to hunt her own meat.
“Shout out to PETA because you guys made me a hunter,” she said. “Thank you very much. Because they did all the hard work by showcasing factory farming… so now I’m going to go hunt my own meat. You should know where your meat comes from.”
Marie further noted the unique nutritional value that is offered in wild game. Many believe fresh, wild meat is a far superior source of protein compared to highly processed store-bought meat. The former wrestler emphasized that “health is wealth.”
“One reason was obviously the food,” she said, stating that her husband, Jonathan Coyle, “is really into nutrition and health and wellness. And anybody that has followed my journey by watching ‘Total Divas,’ and things of that nature, knows I truly believe health is wealth.”
Marie continued expressing that her health is the utmost priority, stating, “If you don’t have your health, you have nothing. I don’t care: You can be rich and have all of the things that you think will make you happy. But if you don’t have your health, then you’re done.”
She highlighted another beneficial aspect of hunting that makes one grateful for food, where they undergo a primal experience of harvesting a “majestic” animal, where nothing goes to waste. This is certainly different from what most Americans experience, who obtain their food seamlessly from grocery stores.
“Hunting makes you appreciate food a lot more, and we make sure we have zero waste from the wild game we take,” she said. “When you go out there and you actually see this beautiful, majestic animal, it is mind-blowing,” she said.
Moved by her hunting experience, the former WWE star urged people to experience the joys of hunting at least once. While acknowledging that the activity is not everyone’s cup of tea, Marie explained that it provides a surreal understanding of nature.
“I feel like anybody who has never done it should at least experience it once. I get that it’s not for everybody. But to experience it one time, I think, would do a lot of people a solid from understanding what goes into it, the love, the appreciation, all of the emotions,” Marie said.
PETA has garnered a reputation for making radical comments about the treatment of animals, seemingly prioritizing their existence over humans at times. The American Tribune reported on comments from 2022 where the animal rights organization criticized Elon Musk for saying he enjoys chocolate milk.
“Chocolate milk is insanely good. Just had some,” Musk tweeted. “Drinking cow’s milk is like driving a gas guzzler. The dairy industry is one of the worst contributors to the climate catastrophe. What happened to caring about the environment? Now chocolate oat milk we can get behind,” PETA said.
