Former members of the now-defunct House Select Committee on the January 6th attack predictably melted down over the news that new GOP Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy would be handing over 44,000 hours of heretofore unseen footage from that day.
The former committee’s members were cherry picked by ousted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and whose criteria for participation was limited only to hatred against Donald Trump. Pelosi ignored Republicans’ request for a balanced committee, and instead made it “bipartisan” by including two of the largest – and since removed – RINOs in Wyoming’s Liz Cheney and Illinois’ Adam Kinzinger.
Former committee chair Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) was quoted by The Hill as saying: “If Speaker McCarthy has indeed granted Tucker Carlson — a Fox host who routinely spreads misinformation and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s poisonous propaganda [sic] — and his producers access to this sensitive footage, he owes the American people an explanation of why he has done so and what steps he has taken to address the significant security concerns at stake.”
Breitbart noted that Thompson opposed certification of the 2004 presidential election.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), whom Kevin McCarthy removed from the House Intelligence Committee while composing the latest congressional assignments, wrote typical verbal putrescence about a supposed Kremlin association with Fox’s Carlson.
Kevin McCarthy turned over Jan 6 videos to right-wing propagandist Tucker Carlson.
A man who spews Kremlin talking points. Suggests Jan 6 was a false flag. And spreads the Big Lie.
Make no mistake: This isn’t about transparency, it’s about fueling dangerous conspiracy theories.

“Kevin McCarthy turned over Jan 6 videos to right-wing propagandist Tucker Carlson,” the tweet begins. “A man who spews Kremlin talking points. Suggests Jan 6 was a false flag. And spreads the Big Lie. Make no mistake: This isn’t about transparency, it’s about fueling dangerous conspiracy theories.”
This is the same person who knowingly lied about the Russia collusion narrative which purposely hovered over Donald Trump’s entire presidency.
Representative Jamie Raskin (D-NY) also made outlandish remarks on Twitter.
McCarthy giving 40,000 hrs of Jan. 6 tape to a pro-Putin journalist is an astounding ethical collapse. What security precautions were taken to keep this from becoming a roadmap for 2024 insurrection? Why isn’t it available to all media & public? Smell the MAGA propaganda coming.

And, of course, no commentary on January 6th would be complete without commentary from – and about – crybaby Adam Kinzinger.
So Kevin McCarthy shared the surveillance footage, not with the rest of congress, investigators, or anyone like that. It was @TuckerCarlson.
The “elisestefanik’ing” of McCarthy has been breathtaking, and not the man I thought i knew before Trump. Lies lies lies

Liz Cheney appears to have not responded yet.
For his part, Tucker Carlson has already promised some groundbreaking reporting as he and his team continue diving into the tens of thousands of hours of never-before-seen footage. Unsuprirsingly, he has already made the observation that what he has seen differs from what we’ve been told.
BREAKING: Tucker Carlson says the January 6th footage they’ve reviewed so far already contradicts what we’ve been told about that day
He says he will release the details next week pic.twitter.com/PMvMX5hHoq

“So for really more than two years now, we’ve been complaining about and we think it’s justified the fact that the US Congress has held 1000s 10s of 1000s of hours of closed circuit camera footage from the public, they have not released any of it from January 6, and January 6, of course, is a transformative event in this country,” Carlson said.
It’s been used to change the country.“So there are about 44,000 hours. And we have you may have heard this, they’ve been granted access to that. And we believe that access is unfettered, we believe we have secured the right to see whatever we want to see,” he added.
“So we’ve been there about a week our producers, some of our smartest producers have been there, looking at this stuff and trying to figure out what it means and how it contradicts or not the story that we’ve been told for more than two years. We think already that in some ways, it does contradict that story. And so we’re going to spend the rest of this week taking a look at it, assessing it as honestly as we can and we’re going to bring you what we find next week,” he continued.
