Fox News Channel has recently been the subject of intense criticism for continuing to employ Jessica Tarlov following recent comments she made on air. Social media users have claimed that a brief clip of Tarlov’s remarks was inciting violence against former President Donald Trump after there have already been two assassination attempts against the Republican presidential candidate.
During a live segment, Tarlov, known for her liberal, anti-Trump takes, stated, “This is the chance to put the final nail in the coffin so that you don’t have Donald Trump on the ballot again.” Subsequently, users on social media voiced their criticism of Tarlov’s comment, questioning why such seemingly hostile rhetoric would be tolerated on a conservative news network.
Conservative commentator Laura Loomer shared the clip of the segment on X, writing, “Fox News host Jessica Tarlov @JessicaTarlov, who is a Kamala Harris supporter and Democrat strategist just incited violence against President Trump LIVE ON AIR after he survived 2 assassination attempts. She should be fired for this. “This is the chance to put the final nail in the coffin so that you don’t have Donald Trump on the ballot again.”
“FOX news time to fire Jessica Tarlov if you want ANY viewers left!” one person wrote, calling on the network to fire her. Another person commented on the clip, stating, “Why did Jessica Tarlov feel that it was necessary to use that idiom “final nail in the coffin,” unless she is not a real journalist because she failed to simply report the news instead of giving her opinions?”
One person claimed that they would cease to watch Fox News if Tarlov were to remain employed at the network. “@FoxNews Literally has been my only news source but dropping it immediately after watching this. Not putting it or the five back on again if I see @JessicaTarlov, whose spreading lies or obviously inflammatory rhetoric that could get Trump killed,” they commented.
However, some defended Tarlov, claiming, that while they may have been a poor choice of words, she was merely using a figure of speech to voice her disdain for Trump. “Come on now. Even as a Trump supporter, I know an idiom when I see one. I’m from the south, and I can’t stand her either! Don’t do this. Don’t be like the left! She should’ve chosen her words more carefully, but it was just a poor choice of words,” they
wrote.
Regardless if Tarlov’s comments were taken out of context or not, the media has undeniably propagated hostile rhetoric toward former President Trump.
The American Tribune recently reported on a statement from former First Lady Melania Trump, blasting the mainstream media over the “toxic atmosphere they have created around her husband.
Watch Tarlov’s statement below:
“You know, it’s interesting how quiet and everything became, all of the mainstream media, there were a few days reporting about the July 13 event, and everything then became quiet,” Melania said. “It’s…this is not normal, and is it really shocking that all this courageous violence goes against my husband, especially that we hear the leaders from the opposition party and mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him vile names, they only fueling a toxic atmosphere and giving power all of these people that they want to do harm to him,” she added.
