A high-speed Brightline train in Delray Beach, Florida, recently crashed into a local firetruck on Saturday morning, leaving at least 15 people injured. According to local officials, three firefighters with the Delray Beach Fire Rescue and 12 train passengers were reportedly taken to the hospital following the harrowing accident.
The Delray Beach Police Department shared a statement on Facebook, outlining the incident.”At approximately 10:45 a.m. today, a collision occurred between a Brightline train and a Delray Beach Fire Rescue ladder truck near E Atlantic Avenue and Railroad Avenue,” the post read. “Three Delray Beach firefighters were transported to a local hospital, where they remained in stable condition. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue provided assistance, transporting 12 individuals from the train to the hospital with minor injuries.”
Explaining that the crash is still being investigated, the post continued, “An active investigation into the cause of the collision is currently underway by Delray Beach Police Department, officials from Brightline, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).” Informing locals of street closures, it added, “As a result of the crash, E Atlantic Avenue at SE 1st Avenue is temporarily shut down. Authorities anticipate that the roadway will reopen by once the investigation and any necessary cleanup are complete. Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.”
The incident received substantial attention on social media, with users sharing footage of the accident and its devastating aftermath. “At least 15 injured after Brightline train collides with a Delray Beach fire Rescue truck on Saturday morning, city officials said. Happening this morning as a @GoBrightline train hit a @DelrayBeachFire rescue truck on its way to an emergency call, Thoughts and prayers for all those injured as local, state and federal officials @NTSB are investigating the crash.”

Highlighting how lucky everyone involved in the collision is, one person urged drivers, even emergency vehicles to not drive around the closed gates of train tracks. “They are lucky no one died.
