Great news for those eagerly watching the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) tear through the deep state: the department announced that 113 wasteful federal contracts with a ceiling value of $4.7 billion have been terminated, producing $3.3 billion in savings, DOGE highlighted a particularly objectionable $145,000 USDA consulting contract for “Peru climate change activities.”
For context, DOGE was established by Trump’s executive order and charged with implementing cost-efficiency measures across federal agencies, and has focused on reducing federal spending by terminating or renegotiating contracts and grants, particularly those involving woke spending.
This mission is characterized in the post DOGE made to X on March 26, 2025, in which it listed the wasteful contracts it terminated. It said, “Contract update! Yesterday, agencies terminated 113 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $4.7B and savings of $3.3B, including a $145K USDA consulting contract for ‘Peru climate change activities’.”
In the comments, users praised DOGE for saving the US taxpayer billions. One of the replies read, “Job well done DOGE another 3.3B saved again 113 agencies wasteful contracts cancelled. More & more to come for too many to be cut & save. Another efficient service for the US people.” Another reply chimed in, “Doge is the bright spot of my day. You are freeing the enslaved citizens from tax burden. All of you deserve the medal of freedom or a new medal that better symbolizes our age.”
Some users joked about throwing a party for DOGE. One of the comment read, “Thank you! I wish I could properly thank you, with maybe a pizza party and non-alcoholic “near beer” and some cake…but alas, the thieves you are exposing have taken so much tax from this dude on SS and a small pension that I can’t afford to reward you. But you surely deserve a thank-you party.”
Other accounts wanted to pursue legal action against the fraudsters. One such comment wrote, “Again, fire all the people who approved these contracts.” Another asked, “Wow at the money laundering that’s been going on. Curious as to where exactly did the $145K actually go? Is there even such a thing as “Peru climate change activities?” If so where’s the proof?”
A lengthy comment said that his shows exactly how vital DOGE is to America. The reply read, “Canceling $4.7B in wasteful contracts proves DOGE’s laser focus on accountability. The $145K Peru climate consulting deal epitomizes DC’s twisted priorities—burning taxpayer cash abroad while American infrastructure crumbles. Since January, agencies have axed $3.3B in bloat like “healthy relationships social media” consultants and DEI grant scams.”

The same comment reiterated how grateful taxpayers are for DOGE. He continued, “Real efficiency means redirecting every saved dollar to border security, energy independence, and crushing inflation. Bureaucrats hate this accountability. Taxpayers love it.”
Other users mocked the absurdity of spending so much money on climate issues. One of many comments read, “Keep it going, DOGE! Expose it all, especially the ridiculous wastes like Peru’s climate change activities.” Users also said, “I wish there was more information. Because I know anything having to do with climate change, as this seems to be, is considered wasteful. I don’t think that’s wise, at least not without further examination.”
