Federal Judge Moves to Protect Tim Walz, Other Democrats from Subpoenas Connected to Alleged Fraud

A federal judge has blocked the Justice Department’s subpoenas of Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz and several other Democrats in the North Star State, which were issued to investigate the connection between Somali corruption involving a number of daycare and Medicaid fraud schemes and local politics, according to new reports.

U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz handed down a ruling on June 17, 2026 that was unsealed on June 22. In the ruling, Judge Schiltz stated that “initiating a criminal investigation in order to harass political opponents” was an “unlawful and unethical use” of the grand-jury process. It’s worth noting that activist judges remained silent when the justice system was utilized to try and prevent President Donald Trump from participating in or winning the 2024 presidential election.

“Initiating a criminal investigation in order to harass political opponents or to coerce them into taking official action — particularly official action that the federal government cannot directly require those political opponents to take — is a blatantly unlawful and unethical use of the grand-jury process,” Schiltz went on to say in his ruling.

According to a report from Breitbart News, Schiltz also noted that the Constitution prohibits the federal government from “forcing states to enforce federal laws,” going on to add that the DOJ’s subpoenas were a part of what he referred to as the “Trump administration’s well-established history of using criminal investigations” to go after the president’s political enemies.

The judge’s decision comes after the DOJ issued subpoenas in January to Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D), St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her (D), along with Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, and Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty. In January, Breitbart issued a report that Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) revealed that “Somali-run taxpayer fraud is a core part” of the Minnesota Democrats’ machine.

The lid was blown off a number of fraudulent daycare centers in Minnesota being run by Somali immigrants in December 2025, thanks to a viral video from independent investigative journalist Nick Shirley. In the video, Shirley visits a number of daycare centers during normal hours of operation, only to find that the businesses were empty with no children present.

One of the commenters on the Breitbart story asked a question that we will probably never hear the answer to, saying, “Where was this slug when Trump was harassed for running for president?” Another individual piggy-backed off that question, going on to say, “And where was this slug when DOJ was preventing Texas from enforcing federal law within the State of Texas?”

“They went clear to SCOTUS to stop Texas from enforcing immigration laws. Apparently the courts only care about Federal Law when someone tries to enforce it that isn’t a Demonrat,” the person continued. Someone else noted the role that activist judges appointed by former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden have played in stifling Trump’s agenda, saying, “Sounds like the criminals are the Obama and Biden appointed Democrat Marxist Judges.”
