Far-Left Virginia Democrats Humiliated as Their Desperate, Last-Minute Appeal to the US Supreme Court Goes Terribly Wrong

Virginia Attorney General Jay Jones, a Democrat, made a fool of himself in front of his entire state and now, thanks to reports on his folly going national, the whole country, after misspelling “Virginia” and “Senator” on a recent appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court. To make matters worse, his office sent off an appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States that was actually addressed to the Supreme Court of Virginia.

As Breitbart writer John Nolte pointed out, the spelling errors can be chalked up to typos and a lack of proper editing and potentially not having spell check on. Still, as Nolte wrote, why wouldn’t a high-ranking government official’s office not use something as basic and fundamental to communication as a tool like spell check?

When it comes to addressing a petition to the wrong court, Nolte said the incompetence left him “speechless,” especially given all the flack Jones’ office caught for the earlier mentioned misspellings, going on to write, “especially AFTER all those misspellings and when this case is 1) the most important thing on the planet to Democrats right now — I mean, even more important to them than sterilizing children.”

According to the report, Nolte also noted that the case about redistricting is one that has taken center stage at the national level, so being sloppy and careless with such an important matter really creates bad optics. At the start of May 2026, the Virginia Supreme Court struck down redistricting referendum that was passed on April 21. Had the referendum remained in place, it would have led to Democrats scoring extra seats in the House of Representatives that would offset seats gained by the GOP in other states through redistricting.

As it stands right now, Democrats in Virginia only have a one-seat advantage of 6 to 5. The Court ruled against the referendum because General Assembly Democrats violated procedures laid out in the State Constitution for making changes to the State Constitution. Once the Court announced that the gerrymandering plot by the Democrats was dead, Democrats at both the state and national level had a meltdown.

“First, they planned to decapitate an entire branch of government — the judiciary — by passing a law that would drop the retirement age to 54. Why 54? Because the youngest member of the Court is 55. And so, after all seven justices became ineligible to serve, Democrats would appoint seven justices who had pre-agreed to uphold the gerrymander referendum,” Nolte wrote, exposing one of the left’s diabolical plans to force their will on the American people.

Democrats were also plotting to take down a 2020 referendum that was passed by a two-to-one vote, that created a nonpartisan commission to handle redistricting. If they had succeeded in such an effort, Democrats would be able to draw the map however they desired. Their last ditch effort was an appeal, which required the attorney general to file a request for the Supreme Court of the United States to get involved in the situation.

Only the appeal was addressed to the Supreme Court of Virginia. Nolte said in his article, “State Democrats, including newly elected Gov. Abigail Spanberger (who ran on the promise not to redistrict), sold this April referendum to voters with the pitch that this was a temporary change to stop the Bad Orange Man. In other words, this was a one-time deal.”

“Democrats would redistrict for a 10-1 advantage for only 2026, and then the redistricting would go back to the commission voters approved in 2020,” Nolte continued. Once their effort was shut down, the left took a much more radical turn, switching up from the “just a temporary change,” to calling for the proverbial heads of the justices on the Supreme Court of Virginia. The writer then noted that all of the anger and humiliation Democrats suffered during this time got the attorney general so stirred up, he failed in carrying out the basics of his profession.
