Recently, families of fallen Gold Star soldiers who lost their lives during the Biden-Harris administration’s failed withdrawal from Afghanistan sounded on of Kamala Harris in a joint statement over the weekend. The families blasted Vice President Kamala Harris for making false statements to attack former President Donald Trump.
On Saturday, Harris criticized Trump after he visited Arlington National Cemetery, where he paid respect to the 13 United States service members who died during the disastrous and mismanaged attempt to pull American military presence out of Afghanistan. The controversy has been considered one of the biggest failures of the Biden-Harris administration. However, Harris claimed Trump was politicizing their deaths.
The Gold Star families called out Kamala Harris, claiming she has ignored their requests to meet, demonstrating a lack of “accountability” and “empathy” from the vice president, who is seemingly unwilling to address the foreign policy disaster that claimed the lives of over a dozen Americans. The families noted that it feels like a “deep betrayal” from Harris.
“Vice President Harris bears responsibility for the deaths of our sons and daughters,” they wrote. “Despite our multiple requests for a meeting to discuss the loss of our loved ones, Vice President Harris has repeatedly ignored us, showing a complete lack of empathy and accountability. This refusal to face the consequences of her administration’s decisions is a deep betrayal to us as Gold Star families.”
However, the joint statement paints a much different picture of Donald Trump, claiming the Republican presidential candidate has always honored the fallen service members. They asserted that Trump’s visit to the cemetery was not motivated by political gain but rather by genuinely honoring those who have fallen in service to the United States.
“President Trump, on the other hand, has been the only Commander-in-Chief to consistently recognize the heroism of our children,” they added. “His attendance at Arlington was not for political gain but to stand with us, to grieve with us, and to honor the legacy of those who gave everything for this nation. His leadership during his time in office was strong, and we have no doubt that if he were still Commander-in-Chief, our children would be alive today.”
The mother of Cpl. Humberto A. Sanchez, Coral Doolittle, claimed “They politicize everything,” when speaking about Vice President Kamala Harris after her lengthy post attacking Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery. “For them to just make everything, turn everything around and say, ‘He’s doing it wrong. He’s breaking the rules’ … It’s just a lie. It’s just a lie,” she said. “President Trump paid his respect to our kids, to all … 13 kids, and he’s the only one that actually takes time to meet with their families, to talk to their families, to honor our kids and say their names,” she said, adding, “President Trump knows our 13 kids’ names.”
“It was a beautiful day. President Trump has been a source of peace and a shoulder to lean on and [a] listening ear for us from, you know, the beginning. And, so, it was a beautiful day,” she added, praising Trump’s continual efforts to engage with the families.
