After a damningvideo revealed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) stepping out of an exclusive private jet during their “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, conservative commentators across the web were incensed and blasted the woke Democrats for their blatant hypocrisy.
For context, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a far-left congresswoman and member of the “Squad,” a group of extremist Democratic politicians infamous for hysterical takes on LGBTQAI+ issues, the climate, and immigration. Similarly, Saunders is one of the most leftwing politicians in office and has self-described as a socialist.
Blasting the Democrats for their hypocrisy, Dan Turner, Power the Future founder and executive director, gave a statement to Fox News Digital on May 13, 2025. He declared, “Sen. Sanders has voted for legislation punishing people for their carbon footprint and threatening fossil fuel executives with prison for climate change hysteria, but his personal actions demonstrate he’s just another limousine liberal, a fake socialist, unwilling to live what he wants to impose on you,” adding, “The climate movement is dead, and Bernie Sanders’ hypocrisy helped kill it.”
Blasting Sanders and AOC, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Ben Petersen gave his reaction to the same outlet. He said, “Champagne socialists Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demand Americans surrender their pick-up trucks, air conditioning, and meat from the luxe leather seats of their private jets that cost more per hour than most Americans earn in months. Their hypocrisy is staggering.”
Despite his clear double standard, Sanders defended his use of a private jet. He told Bret Baier, “That’s the only way to get around. No apologies for that. That’s what campaign travel is about. We’ve done it in the past. We’re gonna do it in the future.”
Continuing his feeble defence, the Vermont senator added, “You run a campaign, and you do three or four or five rallies in a week. [It is] the only way you can get around to talk to 30,000 people. You think I’m gonna be sitting on a waiting line at United…while 30, 000 people are waiting?”
Continuing the conservative beat-down on social media, prominent conservative voice Libs of TikTok posted a video of the flight to X. In her post, she said, “Watch as climate change champions AOC and Bernie Sanders step off a private jet. Never believe a word they say when they scold you about “cLiMaTe cHaNgE.'”

In the comments under her post, conservatives ponced on the hypocritical Democratic politicians. One such comment said, “Bernie and AOC want to be billionaires so bad they can taste it. All they need to do is steal trillions from taxpayers to fund the billionaire lifestyle for themselves.” Another chimed in, “Behold the leaders of three Democrat Party: one’s a millionaire socialist who flies private and the other can’t budget a bar tab, but both want to micromanage your thermostat. The only thing they’re reducing is credibility—carbon’s still sky high.”
Making a hilarious joke, one user noted the irony of flying a private jet to an anti-oligarchy event. The response asked, “So… Bernie and AOC are rich people with a lot of political influence. There’s a word for someone like that. Is it… Oligarch??? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.”
