Celebrity Ellen Degeneres recently fled the nation after President-elect Donald Trump’s landslide victory in the 2024 presidential election, which liberals have bemoaned for weeks. While it appears the vast majority of the celebrities who claimed they would leave the United States after the election were bluffing, Ellen proved that she meant business.
Reports indicate that the former talk show host and her wife, Portia e Rossi, moved to a new multi-million dollar mansion in the United Kingdom. However, things have not exactly gone as planned, as the estate recently endured major flooding after unprecedented rainfall caused some of the highest water levels in years.
The Daily Mail posted on X, “Ellen DeGeneres’ Cotswolds dream submerged: Hollywood star’s idyllic multi-million-pound farmhouse is hit by floods with surrounding fields underwater – just days after she and wife Portia di Rossi moved to the UK to flee Donald Trump’s America.” Hundreds of users reacted in the comments section, many criticizing the celebrity’s motivation for her move to the U.K.
One person wrote, “She left the US to get away from the “racist” Trump and moved to possibly the “whitest” place in the entire world. There is not likely a non-white person within miles of that locale.” Similarly, another said, “Why do they always head to a whiter country? If not the UK, it is always the Nordic countries or Australia or NZ. And as a commenter points out, they will live in a gated community. They will never face the consequences of their actions/voting.”
RedWave Press reported on the matter, writing, “Ellen DeGeneres’s multi-million dollar England farmhouse has flooded after torrential rainfall struck the Cotswolds District just days after she moved in.” The popular conservative account added, “Ellen and her wife Portia donated to Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign and decided to “get the H-ll out” of the United States following President Donald Trump’s election victory.”
Furthermore, RedWave noted, “One source claims the duo will likely “never” return to the United States permanently. Several locals to the area have been trapped in their homes following the flooding and one resident who lives near Ellen told the New York Post, “The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years.”
The American Tribune previously reported on comments from Ellen earlier this year, indicating that she would be heading into retirement after he final stand up special “Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval,” . DeGeneres had concluded her long-running daytime talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2022, which aired 19 seasons starting in 2003.
“Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me,” Ellen told the crowd during her set. “I got chickens,” she said, addressing her newfound hobby of raising poultry, before continuing, “Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.” She added, “I used to say, ‘I don’t care what people say about me,’” she added. “Now I realize I said that during the height of my popularity.”
