Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) recently claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris’s agenda would effectively lower grocery prices and combat the persistent inflation that has plagued Americans throughout the Biden-Harris administration. Over the past several years, Americans have had their budgets strained amid soaring prices across the economy.
Speaking on Thursday at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Warren offered a hopeful message about Harris’ potential to address social and economic issues. “You know what I love best about Kamala Harris? Kamala Harris can’t be bought and she can’t be bossed around,” Warren said while taking the stage, visibly emotional. “We need to make life more affordable for working people.”
On the contrary, Warren slammed former President Donald Trump, ignoring his America First agenda that seeks to improve the lives of all Americans. “Donald Trump, the felon, has no plans to lower costs for families. He doesn’t know how, and basically, he doesn’t really care,” she said. “The only bills he worries about are from his criminal defense lawyers.”
Addressing specific issues, Warren claimed Harris would mitigate problems such as grocery prices, energy costs, and more. “And there it is: groceries, gas, housing, health care, taxes, abortion,” she continued. “We need Kamala Harris. This election is about your family and your future.” However, many have criticized Harris for not combatting these issues during the past several years she spent in the White House. At one point during the Biden-Harris administration, inflation peaked at nearly a 40-year high.
Harris admitted at a recently rally that prices were too high across the economy. “We all know that prices went up during the pandemic when the supply chains shut down and failed, but our supply chains have now improved, and prices are still too high. A loaf of bread costs 50% more today than it did before the pandemic. Ground beef is up almost 50%,” she said.
Trump sounded off on Harris’ DNC speech, writing on Truth Social, “Pocahontas is now speaking at the DNC. She used her fake Indian heritage to scam the system. Her mother told her she had “high cheekbones,” and therefore she was Indian, who would use this hoax on applications everywhere. It worked until she got caught. 10024th Indian, remember?”
The American Tribune recently reported on a “word salad” answer given by Vice President Harris, when she was asked how her economic agenda would be funded. “We’ve seen it when we did it the first year of our administration reduced, we reduced child poverty by over 50% so that’s a lot of the work. And then what we’re doing in terms of the tax credits, we know that there’s a great return on investment. And when we increase home ownership in America, what that means in terms of increasing the tax base, not to mention property tax base, what that does to fund schools, again, return on investment,” she said.
“I think it’s a mistake for any person who talks about public policy to not critically evaluate how you measure the return on investment when you are strengthening neighborhood, strengthening communities, and in particular, the economy of those communities, and investing in a broad-based economy. Everybody benefits, and it pays for itself,” she continued.
