A mother-son duo, Liz and DC Wright, made Liz’s late husband and KC’s late father proud on Wheel of Fortune’s “Home for the Holidays” competition, in which a contestant teams up with a family member for the competition.

The duo won the hearts of viewers and Wheel of Fortune co-host Vanna White, with 92-year-old Liz winning a whopping $65,000 in prize money and a tropical vacation to Antigua in the competition, which was all the sweeter because it was alongside her son.

KC, introducing his mother to viewers, said, “She spent the first 88 years of her life in Oklahoma with my dad. They, for 62 years, traveled the world, a hundred countries and seven continents. He passed, she moved down five years ago to be with me. And I say, you know, the first 18 years of my life you taught me how to use a spoon, do all the things, watch Wheel of Fortune. And then the last five years I’ve been able to try to give something back to her.”

Things went well for the dup, as they won a substantial prize of $25,000 and the Antigua getaway in a bonus round, completing puzzles such as the “The Adventure of a Lifetime,” and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” to win those prizes.

But then things took a turn for the even better when Liz solved the food and drink puzzle, “Drizzled Honey,” and in so doing added another whopping $40,000 to the winnings pot by solving that holiday puzzle. As the mother-son duo celebrated their big wins in the competition, Liz asked KC, “OK, do you think your dad would be proud of us?”

With the episode coming to an end, Pat Sajak, the show’s long-running but now outgoing host, congratulated 92-year-old Liz on how well she did in the show, saying, “Well, you played extremely well and it was a great honor to have you here.” Continuing, Sajak added, “And we really appreciate you continuing to watch. And stay in touch, OK?”

But Vanna White went even further in congratulating Liz and speaking about how much the sweetness of her appearance had touched her heart. In a video posted to TikTok after the episode, White told Liz, “Liz, I have to tell you. You are my favorite show in 41 years. You made the show so special!”

Liz, for her part, responded modestly, telling White, “It couldn’t happen without you.” But White wouldn’t let her wiggle off the hook of acclaim and congratulations with modesty, insisting to Liz, “No, it couldn’t happen without you.”

Commenting on the sweet video, people said things like, “Best episode EVER. And I loved how her son kept pointing to her and kept her in the spotlight. What a memory for Liz and KC!” and “My 91 year old grandfather and I watched together and couldn’t stop smiling!” Another added, “IT WAS SO AMAZING COMPETING AGAINST YOU LIZ AND MEETING VANNA SHES EVEN NICER IN PERSON AND PAT IS AMAZING AND THE WHOLE TEAM IS JUST GREAT 🥺❤️”
