Since the deadly Hamas-led terror attacks of October 7th, the Middle East has dominated the news cycle, and rightfully so. As time has passed, more people are expressing their opinions on the situation, and protests have erupted all over the country, many in support of Hamas. While that is unthinkable, many in Congress, the media, and our so-called institutes of higher learning have been weighing in on the side of terror.
Many in the media and entertainment have taken to social media and whatever individual platforms they have to express outrage over the support for Hamas. Bill Maher, Jon Lovitz, Jerry Seinfeld, and Gal Gadot are just a few of the high-profile celebrities openly critical of Hamas and those who support the terror organization.
College campuses, predictably, have been hotbeds of activity, with many alleged elite institutions taking a curious stance in terms of allowing anti-Israel protests on their campuses. Now, an unlikely yet recognizable voice is speaking out.
Dr. Phil McGraw of Daytime TV fame took to X, publishing a video speaking out about the attacks. He said: “The Hamas invaders were not soldiers. They were assassins. The Hamas charter calls for the ultimate annihilation of all Israeli Jews, followed by the annihilation of Jews around the world. Sound familiar? Sadly, some people, including some right here in America actually celebrated the slaughter and blame those being murdered, raped and kidnapped.”
It was a scathing but, sadly, necessary takedown from a most unlikely source. Dr. Phil went on to elaborate further: “Americans nationwide have been appalled and shocked. The leadership of these supposedly highly sophisticated schools are so busy virtue signaling and coddling students who think that words are violence, but violence, horrific, inhumane violence is social justice, that they have forgotten it is their job to teach their students to think and to test reality. Instead of training tomorrow’s leaders, they are profoundly demagnetizing our culture’s moral compass among the college population.”
McGraw readily admits that he is no expert in geopolitics, but what he does have is common sense. Common sense dictates that a stated organization whose sworn goal is to eliminate all Jews has to be treated like the existential threat that they are.
The way college campuses have handled students supporting terrorism borders on insanity, and Dr. Phil is calling them out. He continued: “You cannot negotiate with people whose only acceptable outcome is to murder you and your entire race. Seriously, have some of these people gotten together and collectively lost their minds? We know right from wrong, and we must stand up for what we believe and know is right. We must call out these institutions. How is any of this acceptable to anyone? How is it not recognized as incredibly racist? How do elite educators not recognize this is a huge teachable moment in the student’s journey?”
While it is possible some university heads are simply trying to placate students for fear of running afoul of the woke mob, common sense must prevail, even if Dr. Phil has to be the one offering the message. For now, McGraw has been one of the loudest voices calling out certain universities, but hopefully, other rational people with a platform will follow suit.
