Dr. Ben Carson, the neurosurgeon, 2016 presidential candidate, and Trump Administration Director of Housing and Urban Development, just came out in support of former President Trump for 2024, saying that the former president has his complete support headed into the primaries and then presidential race.
Dr. Carson did so in a post on X (formerly Twitter), explaining what he sees as America’s critical need for leadership, which is something he thinks Trump has in spades and could use to build America back to what it was before Team Biden took a wrecking ball to it.
He wrote, “Our nation is in desperate need of strong leadership. A President who fights for the American people, our freedoms, our safety, and our future. Donald J. Trump is that leader and I am proud to give him my full endorsement for President of the United States today. Join me in this fight to Make America Great Again!“

Former President Trump, responding to the endorsement on Truth Social, thanked Dr. Carson profusely. Doing so, he said, “A great honor to have just received the Endorsement for President from Dr. Ben Carson. Thank you Ben!!!”
Carson had hinted at the announcement in an earlier post on X, writing, “Praying before making a big announcement for a very special friend.” Responding, conservative actor Jon Voight wrote about their shared time studying the Bible in the Trump White House, posting, “Getting to study the Bible with him every week in the Cabinet was one of my highlights of those years. I love Ben and Candy very much.”

Introducing Trump before a campaign event in Sioux City, Iowa, Dr. Carson praised Trump’s willingness to take on the regime. He said, “One man had the courage to take on the political establishment and give the people a voice in Washington, with no concern about what it would cost him.”

Carson, explaining why he dropped out in 2016 and sided with Trump, a position he has clung to ever since, wrote, “It was near the end of the 2016 primary season. My campaign had suffered a loss after the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, and I knew in the coming days that the Lord was leading me to step aside in favor of Donald J. Trump.”
He continued, “Donald and I were friends before the campaign season had started. Why did I favor my friend? I was optimistic about the future of our country based on what I had seen on the campaign trail. The evening of the last debate, I approached my fellow candidate and said, ‘Donald, you’re going to be the next president of the United States.’ Donald looked back at me and said, ‘Why do you think so, Ben?’ ‘Because God is not done with our country, and because the American people haven’t given up on it either,’ I replied.”
