In the wake of Turning Point USA founder and close Trump ally Charlie Kirk’s assassination at the alleged hands of what appears to be a radical leftist named Tyler Robinson, Fox News Channel personality Greg Gutfeld eviscerated “The Five” co-host Jessica Tarlov over her attempts to minimize the assassination with a “both sides” talking point. Gutfeld wasn’t having it, and totally shut it down.
As background, a major fight online developed in the wake of Kirk’s slaying at Utah Valley University, with conservatives and other forces on the right generally arguing that the left is far more predisposed to actually committing political violence, and so needs to be investigated and shut down, as the left argues that really the right has done its fair share of bad things too, and thus this is more about “tensions” vaguely than left-wing terror.
Gutfeld, broaching that aspect of the fight during “The Five” broadcast, snapped that this is near-purely a left-wing problem, saying, “Why is only this happening on the left and not the right? That’s all we need to know.” Tarlov responded by claiming that the killing of Minnesota Democrat Melissa Hortman alongside her husband back in June was similar political violence that was committed by the right, though Gutfeld insisted that that case was quite different.
Noting as much, Gutfeld explained that Hortman was relatively unknown before her odd slaying, saying, “Did you know her name before it happened? None of us did. None of us were spending every single day talking about Melissa Hortman. I never heard of her until after she died.” Tarlov, furious, snapped back by asking if he was saying that Hortman’s death “doesn’t matter.”
Thundering back at her in response, Gutfeld snapped, “Don’t play that bullsh*t with me!” He added that she was mischaracterizing his argument, saying, “What I’m saying is there was no demonization amplification about that woman before she died. It was a specific crime against her by somebody that knew her.”
He further added that the whole “both sides” argument that Tarlov and others like her were trying to make was utterly “dead” and not one that will be taken seriously anymore, saying, “The fact of the matter is the both sides argument not only doesn’t fly, we don’t care. We don’t care about your both sides argument. That sh*t is dead.”
Still not done, Gutfeld thundered that Tarlov’s leftist side was trying to rationalize away responsibility for Kirk’s death, saying, “On your side, your beliefs do not match reality so you’re coming up with these rationalizations. ‘What about this, what about that?’ We are not doing that because we saw it happen. We saw a young bright man assassinated and we know who did it.”

Concluding his thundering takedown of Tarlov, Gutfeld snapped that the media encouraged the violence against Kirk with its irresponsible rhetoric and that the sort of arguments it makes will no longer be taken seriously, saying, “The media is dead to us on this story. They built this thing up. We are dealing with it, we are going to act. We don’t care what the what about is anymore, that sh*t is dead!”
