Successful Hollywood filmmaker Quentin Tarantino joined Bill Maher on his “Club Random” podcast for a chat about subjects including Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for the presidency and her seeming reluctance to grant interviews or answer questions about her policy ideas, something for which she has been heavily criticized so far.
Commenting on the matter, Tarantino said that, though Harris has been heavily criticized for her seemingly intentional avoidance of the media and of its questions since she was tapped as the nominee in the wake of President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out and not accept the nomination, she should stay strong and avoid such questions and media appearances.
Particularly, Mr. Tarantino said that Kamala ought not to bow to pressure and accept calls to hold something like a press conference or a live, sit-down interview, as if she does so, she could “f*** s*** up” verbally and have a much harder time winning the presidential race in the wake of some gaffe or misstatement.
Tarantino’s comments on the matter to Bill Maher on “Club Random” came when Maher broached the general subject, noting that Vice President Harris has made it clear that she will never sit down for an interview or something similar with him on his show or podcast. Tarantino told him that she has “no reason” to do so before the election.
Then, when Maher shot back that he holds sway over a large number of moderate and independent voters who are at least somewhat skeptical of Harris, Tarantino exploded in a vulgarity-filled rant about the “easiest path” to 1600 Penn. for VP Harris and how it doesn’t really matter that Kamala seems scared of interviews if avoiding them helps her win.
Beginning that profane rant, Tarantino snapped, “I think they’re just all about winning the f***ing election, all right, and the easiest path to winning the election. Look, you can talk about maybe she should have had more guts about this or that and the other but we’re the f***ing president. And Trump’s not the president, and we’re the f***ing president, and now it’s gonna be about this.”
Continuing, he added that he sees this as all just being about winning, something Republicans don’t seem to understand, but Democrats do, as shown by their tactics. He said, “This is about f***ing winning. What most people don’t give the Democrats enough credit for, but we give the Republicans credit for, is like no, sometimes it’s just about f***ing winning. And it doesn’t matter how we look at this moment.”
He wasn’t done there. Finishing up the angry and expletive-laden rant about Kamala and tactics Tarantino went on to add that he sees no reason in her doing a “stupid f***ing interview” to explain her positions when her voters will already vote for her anyway and doing one might turn people off if she stumbles. He said, “It’s a mad f***ing dash and she is running, and she’s not stopping to stumble. … I’m gonna vote for her f***ing anyway, no matter what she says in a stupid f***ng interview, so don’t f*** s*** up.”
