Donald Trump Attacks Mitch McConnell For Supporting Pro-Impeachment Incumbent Ahead Of Mid-Term Elections

With just weeks to go before the crucial make-up of the Senate is decided, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is funneling financial support to pro-impeachment incumbent Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and fundraising in direct opposition of Trump-back Kelly Tshibaka. Previously, McConnell also withdrew support for Blake Masters, another Trump-supported Senate candidate in Arizona.

None of these actions can be seen as particularly surprising; McConnell stands to win if either Democrats retain a Senate majority (thus preserving his minority leadership position) or if establishment Republicans hold their seats. McConnell, being the lizard he is, does not want what’s best for America because it hurts him personally.

Writing about the tight Alaska race, Breitbart noted that McConnell’s actions took care of the two proverbial birds with one stone:

Former President Donald Trump slammed Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Monday for funding pro-impeachment Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s (R-AK) reelection bid against challenger Kelly Tshibaka with $9 million instead of other swing state candidates, like Republican Blake Masters in Arizona.

“Kelly Tshibaka is doing very well in Alaska, probably leading horrendously bad Senator Lisa Murkowski, a Republican (barely!),” Trump stated in a press release. “The Democrat has no chance, and yet the Old Broken Crow, Mitchell McConnell, is authorizing $9 Million Dollars to be spent in order to beat a great Republican, Kelly, instead of $9 Million Dollars that could be used for Blake Masters, and other Republicans, that with this money would beat their Democrat opponent. Isn’t it ironic?”

Breitbart further commented that a full 85% of Murkowski’s funds “have come from out-of-state donors.” These donations include the financial backing of McConnell and other entrenched RINO hacks. Breitbart then continued questioning the motives of such financial support as well as Murkowski’s own allegiances:

The large percentage of the money raised by Murkowski outside the state raises questions about where her interests lie. The establishment senator has voted nine times with Democrats in the last two years and has vowed to assist President Joe Biden’s agenda move forward if she is elected.

The good news is that despite the entire establishment’s support, the most recent polls suggest the Trump-backed Tshibaka holds the slimmest of margins over McConnell’s preferred incumbent. A data dive predicted that Republicans have a 99% winning chance in the Alaska Senate race, and projected Tshibaka had a 53% chance of winning.

Alaska, it should be noted, does not have a traditional voting system familiar with so many Americans. Instead, it relies on ranked-choice voting to determine its winners. Under ranked choice, voters can select multiple candidates. If their top choice is eliminated from voting, then their second choice’s vote can earn their tally. Although the Democrat rival is a longshot, enough Alaskan Democrats can tilt the outcome to Murkowski by marking her as an alternative to Trump’s preferred candidate.
