According to recent reports, former President Donald Trump is set to appear with striking auto workers in Detroit, Michigan. Trump is allegedly opting to forgo the second Republican primary debate to appear with the striking members of the United Auto Workers (UAW).
Roughly 146,000 auto workers have demanded higher salaries from major auto manufacturers such as Ford, General Motors, and Stellantis, asking for an approximate 46 percent increase in pay over the next few years as Americans still contend with historically high inflation. Clearly, blue-collar workers are not satisfied with the state of American industry, potentially fueling Trump’s “Make America Great Again” platform.
According to sources, President Trump will counter-program the GOP debate with a speech in front of former and current union members. Trump posted a message on his social media platform, Truth Social, sympathizing with the United Auto Workers while slamming electric vehicles and calling out Joe Biden.
“The United Autoworkers are being sold down the “drain” with this all Electric Car SCAM. They’ll be made in China, under Crooked Joe’s CHINA FIRST POLICY. AUTOWORKERS, VOTE FOR TRUMP – I’LL MAKE YOU VICTORIOUS & RICH. IF YOUR “LEADERS” WON’T ENDORSE ME, VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE, NOW. WITH THE DEMOCRATS & CROOKED JOE CALLING THE SHOTS, YOU’LL BE JOBLESS & PENNILESS WITHIN 4 YEARS. REMEMBER, BIDEN IS A CROOK WHO HAS BEEN PAID MILLIONS OF DOLLARS BY CHINA, & OTHERS. He is a Manchurian Candidate!!!”
The former president elected also to skip the first Republican primary debate, citing his poll numbers leaving the other candidates in the dust. Instead, Trump elected to sit down for an exclusive interview with Tucker Carlson on his on X (formerly Twitter).
“Well, you know, a lot of people have been asking me that and many people said you shouldn’t do it. But you see, the polls have come out, and I’m leading by 50 and 60 points. And you know, some of them are at one and zero and two. And I’m saying do I sit there for an hour or two hours, whatever it’s going to be and get harassed by people that shouldn’t even be running for president,” Trump told Carlson.
Trump has also slammed Bidenomics and the abysmal state of the American economy. The former president even suggested Biden had done more damage to the American economy than any prior president, predicting it will lead the country into a “great depression.”.
“If you took the five worst presidents in the history of the United States and added them up, they would not have done near the destruction to our country as Joe Biden and the Biden administration have done in a few short years,” Trump stated. “And no damage has been worse than the disaster known as Bidenomics.”
“We’re heading into a great depression,” Trump said. “The only question is whether or not it will be during the remaining months of the Biden administration, or will the next president have to bear the brunt of what Biden has done to our country? I don’t want to be the next Herbert Hoover — and I won’t let that happen.”
