Former president Donald Trump landed in East Palestine, Ohio earlier this week to deliver both supplies and positive reinforcements to a beleaguered community. It comes in stark contrast as Joe Biden and other administration officials have largely ignored the catastrophic consequences of a trail derailment and subsequent exposures to ground and air pollution.
The American Tribune previously reported that Trump had arrived in the eastern Ohio town to deliver crucial supplies, especially potable water, on Wednesday. Amazingly, after Trump first announced the visit, the Biden White House miraculously felt it appropriate to send officials as well.
Once alit, Trump immediately became the focus point of relief efforts. He could be seen handing out supplies, signing hats, and generally being an uplifting spirit and presence. He even found the local McDonald’s, where he offered to buy every police officer, fire fighter, and patron a free meal.
“So is everybody willing to accept free food from Trump?” the 45th president stated as he entered the town’s fast food restaurant.
“We’re going to take care of the fire department, we’re going to take care of the police department, plus the people that are in here. They’re going to get a nice, free meal,” Trump could be heard informing the cashier.
Like it or not, this is what presidents do. Yes, it’s a photo op; but it’s also a very real solution. Just by going, Donald Trump mobilized a response that provided much-needed supplies to the poisoned town. More importantly, his visit spurred the Biden administration into a response as well. The net result in both cases is good for the community of East Palestine.
The American Tribune, quoting Breitbart News, grabbed a few quotes from Trump’s spokesperson and one of the CEOs of the company assisting with moving all of the bottled water.
Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung, speaking to Breitbart about Trump’s visit to the town, said “President Trump is meeting with the citizens of East Palestine, and he will never forget them and what they are going through. Contrast that with Biden and the federal government, who have failed them from the beginning.”
Breitbart also quoted a man named John Rourke, the CEO of a company called Blue Line Moving, which is the company that handled the transportation of the pallets of water to East Palestine, as saying “Joe Biden/Pete Buttigieg stay away! The real President is here taking care of American Citizens. Make sure those Ukrainian pensions are take care of.”
Before going to McDonald’s, the former president gave remarks alongside the town’s mayor and in front of a group of citizens and reporters. He blasted his political rival in the White House for ignoring them almost entirely, instead choosing to send aid to foreign nations and traveling abroad.
Many commentators, including Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, have pointed out that East Palestine is predominantly white and voted overwhelmingly for Donald Trump in 2020. Either fact would be enough for the corrupt Biden administration to intentionally withhold support.
“I think he should’ve come here. I think he should’ve been here. He should’ve been here, and he chose to go a different route,” Trump said in his brief remarks. “It had nothing to do with it,” Trump said, commenting on Biden’s other actions. “We’re like a third-world nation, and this is an example of it, the breakdown.”
“Our whole country is breaking down, and [Buttigieg]’s really got to look at the airports because I have people that are taking planes, and they’re delayed. They’re waiting in an airport for three days. It’s crazy what’s happening,” Trump added, getting a dig at the nominal head of train safety and responses to derailments.
