Donald Trump Jr., the eldest and most politically involved son of President Donald Trump, went absolutely nuclear on notoriously pro-foreign war Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) after catching Sen. Cruz lying about the “Memorandum of Understanding”, or MOU, that President Trump is signing with the Islamic Republic of Iran to end the war.
For reference, part of the MOU with Iran is that the Arab Gulf states will create a fund that is entirely voluntarily funded and privately funded to rebuild Iran, with the $300 billion fund being gradually deployed over time if the Iranian state complies with its obligations under the deal. As part of that, the investors in the fund will own the infrastructure that their investment dollars build, tying the region more closely together and hopefully leading to a less war-minded Iran over time.
Predictably, those who wanted the war with Iran to drag on interminably have responded by throwing a total hissy fit over the MOU and that provision in particular, claiming that American tax dollars are being used to rebuild the nation that America just spent months in a conflict with. So too have those who wish to bash Trump for other reasons, using it as a bludgeon with which they are attempting to either embarrass him or goad him into renewing hostilities.
Amongst those who have pushed such lies is Sen. Ted Cruz, who insisted in a statement to the Daily Wire that was shared on X by Ben Domenech, an opinion editor for that outlet, “Nearly one thousand Americans have been murdered by the Ayatollah and the mullahs… It is not remotely in America’s interest for us to pay to rebuild that capacity that we just took out.”
He further said, on the subject of the MOU, when speaking to the Daily Wire, “It has also been discussed that the financial reward could be $300 billion to the Ayatollah. If that is true, that would be three times more than the money Joe Biden and Kamala Harris funneled to the Ayatollah. It is a virtual certainty that if $300 billion went to the Ayatollah, that money would be used to murder Americans.”
Donald Trump Jr. came out swinging in a quote tweet of Domenech’s post on X, calling out the hypocrisy and lies of the neo-conservative senator and those who are boosting his claims as a way of attacking President Trump and his attempt to bring long-term peace to the region.
Doing so, Donald Trump Jr. said, “The only problem with this quote is that @tedcruz is lying thru his teeth about the deal. We’re not giving them a cent and he knows that. Using fake news about the peace deal to undermine @realDonaldTrump is the opposite of MAGA.”

Commenters on both Donald Trump Jr.’s post and Domenech’s post agreed, saying things like, “Iran has unconditionally surrendered and the haters are in shambles” and “Good thing the US taxpayers are not paying them a penny for reconstruction. Stop pretending they are. It’s slavish and disgusting.” Another said, “Ted Cruz is the new Thune…..”
President Trump, for his part, has said, slamming the lies in a post on Truth Social, “Iran has agreed to never have a Nuclear Weapon! Also, the story that the U.S. is paying Iran 300 million Dollars is Fake News, put out by the Dumocrats!!! President DJT”
