DOGE Makes Huge Discovery at Agency Known for Waste and Fraud, Guts It

In great news for those eagerly watching The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) tear through the deep state, AmeriCorps, a highly controversial agency, has been gutted after failing its eighth consecutive audit. The announcement provoked celebrations from conservatives who applauded the wasteful agency being brought to heel by DOGE.

For context, AmeriCorps was founded in the early 90s as a way to coordinate volunteer efforts with community needs. However, as is often the case, the program became a massive slush fund for unaccountable bureaucratic waste. According to the experts, the agency was a nexus of fraudulent activity that wasted billions of taxpayer dollars.

This was shown when a prominent conservative influencer posted on social media on April 17, 2025, announcing the restructuring of AmeriCorps. The post read, “AmeriCorps was a viper’s nest of DEI and climate change initiatives. With a budget north of $1 billion the agency was rife with fraud, waste, and abuse failing 8 consecutive audits. Biden’s Inspector General admitted that he had no idea when the agency could pass an audit. DOGE is gutting the agency.”

Providing additional detail, the post included a graphic that outlined Trump’s plans for the controversial agency. It said, “The Trump administration is gutting AmeriCorps after the agency failed eight consecutive audits. Congress had already targeted the agency, with the House proposing a 60% budget cut for FY25. Currently, 75% of AmeriCorps employees are on leave, and $250 million in contracts have been canceled. While AmeriCorps will continue to exist, its operations will be rebuilt from the ground up.”

In the comments under the post, conservatives expressed their rage with the fraudulent agency. One such comment said, “AmeriCorps was just another taxpayer-funded activism slush fund. DOGE didn’t just trim the fat, they torched the whole corrupt hive.” Another added, “There was a similar group before this one a friend of mine was mixed up with. I was very leary of their hold on my friend’s conservative thoughts and attempts to change them.”

Building on that point, some users were frustrated by Congress’s inability to fix these issues. One of the replies noted, “When can we see these budget cuts affect our fiscal budgeting in a positive way? I am sick, SICK, of congress’ spending habit. I also want to know which properties were being leased for this giant turd of an organization. I’m sure when they build back, it won’t be as cost saving as it should be.”

Hammering away at the woke agency, one comment delved into the depths of corruption at AmeriCorps. The reply read, “AmeriCorps claimed to address education, disaster relief, and community needs through volunteerism. Reality? It became a slush fund for bureaucratic excess. The agency funneled billions into grants with zero accountability—ghost members, fake timesheets, and settlements for fraud. Rebuilding it from the ground up isn’t optional—it’s survival.”

In another comment, the same user described how much money the fraudulent agency had wasted. The response declared. “AmeriCorps epitomized bureaucratic bloat, burning through $1.7B in 2024 alone while failing 8 consecutive audits – a historic record of incompetence. The GAO’s March 2024 report exposed $900M+ in grants with inadequate fraud controls, while the OIG found falsified timesheets, ghost members, and $515K settlements for education award fraud.”
