DOGE Ends Funding for Fauci Museum Exhibit

According to recent reports, the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, has spurred the cancelation of funding for a museum exhibit commemorating Dr. Anthony Fauci.  Overall, the United States Department of Health and Human Services canceled over $180 million in contracts within a 48-hour period, including a nearly $170,000 contract for the Fauci exhibit.

The DOGE X account broke the news on X, writing, “In the past 48 hours, HHS canceled 62 contract worth $182 million.”  The post further explained that none of these contracts had any direct impact on public health. “These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses – none touched any healthcare programs. This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum,” it continued.

The American Tribune previously reported that the Trump administration revoked Dr. Fauci’s personal security detail.  When asked about the matter, President Trump indicated that no civil servant is guaranteed a lifetime of government-funded security just because the worked in the public sector.  Furthermore, Trump pointed out that Fauci is wealthy enough to fund his own private security.

A reporter asked Trump at a recent press conference, “The security detail for Anthony Fauci was terminated last night. And I’m wondering if you have any comment?” The president said, “I think you know, when you work for government … at some point, your security detail comes off, and you know, you can’t have them forever.”

Trump continued, “So I think it’s very standard, if it would be for somebody else, you wouldn’t be asking the question.” He added, “The question is very fair, but, you know, you work for government. We took some off other people too, but you can’t have a security detail for the rest of your life because you work for government.”

“They all made a lot of money. They can hire their own security too,” Trump noted. “All the people you’re talking about, they can go out, I can give them some good numbers of very good security people. They can hire their own security. They all made a lot of money. Fauci made a lot of money,” he said. Reports indicate that Fauci moved to hire his own private security after having his detail revoked.

The Tribune also reported recently that a group of Republican attorneys general are seeking to skirt the last-minute preemptive pardon President Biden issue Fauci, seeking to investigate him at the state level.  The coalition of attorneys is being led by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, who penned a letter to House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) last week.

Wilson sought to be informed of “any further findings or direct evidence that suggests there may have been any violation of state laws.” It added, “Certainly, one potential tool at our disposal is the referral of any pertinent findings to state officials. As you are aware, a pardon by former President Biden does not extend to preclude state-level investigations or legal proceedings.”
