In yet more big news for those who are concerned about the state of voting in America, the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has caught dozens of “resident aliens” in cases of voter fraud and has referred their cases to the Department of Justice (DOJ) led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, for prosecution.
The news came alongside Mr. Musk, who is backing off somewhat from his hands-on leadership of DOGE, telling reporters that he and his department have referred numerous cases of fraud to the DOJ for criminal prosecution. He said, commenting on that aspect of the DOGE situation, “The wheels of justice turn slowly but, hopefully, surely. When we find cases of fraud, we refer those cases to the DOJ — it is not DOGE prosecuting anyone.”
Continuing, Elon explained the scope of the issue, noting that there are “hundreds of thousands of cases of what appear to be fraud.” Building on that in comments to the press, a DOGE official named Antonio Gracias, a longtime friend of Musk, said they have referred, so far, 57 cases of possible voter fraud to the DOJ.
In any case, Mr. Musk also noted that DOGE has so far been mainly focused on stopping the fraud, but will transition into hunting down the fraudsters for prosecution. Explaining the timeline aspect of the matter, he said, “The first thing you want to do is at least stop the fraud and then thereafter make sure at least some number above zero of the fraudsters are prosecuted.”
Gracias, explaining the 57 cases that have so far been referred to the DOJ, explained that the alleged criminals were “resident aliens who were registered to vote and may or may not have voted in elections.” He added, “We’re not sure. We referred the cases.”
The DOJ commented on the matter as well, doing so in a statement to Fox News Digital in which it noted that the DOJ is working closely with DOGE to identify and prosecute cases of fraud, such as the ones that Gracias and Elon noted in their comments to the media.
Explaining as much, the DOJ spokesperson told Fox News, “DOGE has assisted agencies and departments in identifying potential cases of fraud which have been referred to the Department of Justice. DOGE is working closely with DOJ to identify potential fraud.”

In the same Wednesday, April 30, press event in the White House Roosevelt Room in which Elon explained the fraud situation and what is being done about it, he also commented on what he did with DOGE and why he is stepping away somewhat after three months of intense effort.
Doing so, he noted that he needed to get his arms around the scope and scale of the massive waste so that a proper team could be developed to deal with it. He said, “The federal government is a gigantic beast — very complicated — and so if you’re trying to figure out how to stop waste and fraud, you’ve got to map the territory. That required three months of intense effort, and you have to build the team as well.”
