It’s not just Rep. Rashida Tlaib who is leading a countercharge of angry Democrat sentiment against the Biden Administration’s generally pro-Israel policies, though Rep. Tlaib is still generally taking the lead on that. Rep. Ilhan Omar recently joined in as well, posting on X about what she sees as a major blunder Biden’s administration has made in its permissive stance on Israel’s Gaza campaign.
Particularly, Rep. Omar argued that it makes no sense for the United States to be supporting such a campaign because the campaign has no discernable objectives that make launching it, much less waging it and risking major escalation in the region and painfully high casualties on both sides, worthwhile.
She said, “U.S. policy is essentially that Netanyahu has no achievable goals in Gaza and a ground invasion risks regional war, including potential US troops. And also we should give him $14 billion in weapons with no restrictions, and say there are no red lines as he bombs refugee camps. See how this doesn’t add up?”

Omar also recently ripped into the Israeli military for bombing an ambulance it claims was full of terrorists, though it could not name the terrorists that were allegedly in the ambulance and made it a legal target on which bombs could be dropped.
Posting about that, Omar said, “If you don’t know the name and affiliation of the person who you say is a terrorist, how are we supposed to believe you were targeting said terrorist? I think the IDF is so used killing innocent people with impunity that they don’t even have to have a story that makes sense in order for people to side with them against the innocent people they slaughter daily. They make a mockery of international law and laugh at those who actually still believe in such a thing.”

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, another member of the hyper-progressive “Squad” broke even more clearly with the Biden Administration’s stance on the war, posting a video and series of tweets in which she directly called out Biden and claimed the American people are not with him on this issue.
She wrote, “.@POTUS, the majority of the American people are not with you on this one. #CeasefireNow.” Continuing, she added, “From the river to the sea is an aspirational call for freedom, human rights, and peaceful coexistence, not death, destruction, or hate. My work and advocacy is always centered in justice and dignity for all people no matter faith or ethnicity.”

And, in a statement on the billions in extra aid for Israel, she said, “The American people do not support funding for war crimes— like the use of white phosphorus bombs-and are calling for a ceasefire. As the Israeli government carries out ethnic cleansing in Gaza, President Biden is cheering on Netanyahu, whose own citizens are protesting his refusal to support a ceasefire. We must be laser focused on saving lives, no matter their faith or ethnicity.”
That statement continued, “The number of children killed in Gaza in just three weeks has surpassed the annual number of children killed across the world’s conflict zones since 2019-yet instead of helping end this violence, President Biden baselessly casts doubt on the Palestinian death toll. U.S. funding for the Israeli military with no humanitarian conditions will take us father away from ending the violence and reaching peace. Achieving a just and lasting peace requires lifting the blockade, ending the occupation, and dismantling the dehumanizing system of apartheid. Not only do some of my colleagues want to send more weapons to carry out war crimes and violations of international law, but they want to do it by providing tax breaks to billionaires and undermining crucial investments in our communities. Instead of funding more bombs with American taxpayer dollars, our leaders should be calling for a ceasefire now, before this violence claims thousands more lives.”
