Following President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, conservatives have celebrated nonstop. As a manifestation of the optimism toward Trump’s imminent return, conservatives rejoicing with their rendition of the “Trump dance” has taken the internet by storm. Several NFL players have even busted out the dance as celebrations during recent games.
However, some have slammed networks for allegedly editing out the celebration, leading some to question whether the media has a “problem” with the viral dance. A recent panel on the conservative sports outlet Outkick addressed the controversy. Co-host Jonothan Hutton said, “The NFL says it has no problem with players celebrating with the Trump dance, but as you pointed out on Sunday, apparently, the CBS social media team does with editing out the Trump dance celebration and saving some bandwidth, maybe for our internet.”
Sports commentator Armando Salguero weighed in, sarcastically stating, “Yeah, because you don’t want the internet to end, you understand you got to save space. Yeah, you don’t want to get to the end of the internet with the Trump dance, so you got to edit it out so that it’s not in there taking up valuable internet space.” On a more serious note, he suggested that someone at CBS could be editing out the dance on the basis of their political views.
“Look, this is some … I’m going to say, some stupid person who’s not probably making a ton of money trying to stay out of trouble, probably. And they may or may not have a certain worldview, and so they decided we’re not doing this on our social media, even though it appeared on the CBS network feed and the CBS broadcast live, but sure enough, they cut it out of their social media,” he said.
“The fact that the NFL says that it has no issues with the Trump dance, that’s good,” Salgurero continued, emphasizing that the league has not disavowed the dance. He continued, “But the best thing that I think about the whole Trump dance is that you don’t see guys just doing it by themselves, typically, right, at least not in the NFL. You see Zadarius Smith doing it with a couple of teammates. Jack Campbell being one of them. You see Nick Bosa doing it with, you know, three other guys.”
Salguero then argued that the widespread use of the Trump dance in the NFL defeats leftist narratives about Trump. “And as a matter of fact, it was Leonard Floyd’s idea to do it so and you see that and it’s not just a white guy doing it,” he said. “It’s multiple guys doing it. The narrative that you know you’re celebrating a racist goes out the window when Leonard Floyd is telling you, let’s do this. Leonard Floyd, if you know, Google his picture. Okay, right? Yeah. So it’s just it doesn’t fly. And I think it’s great in that the culture is over, the narrative.”
The OutKick Hot Mic X account shared the conversation, questioning, “Does the #NFL have a problem with the Trump Dance?” One user commented, “Trump has pushed the culture away from racism, he allowed himself to be attacked and falsely maligned for being a racist and it exposed the left , it exposed the lie that they tell the American people and the world for years, that the USA is a racist country. That is a huge lie and thank God that @realDonaldTrump tore down that wall of lies that the Left and the mainstream media puppets have told since Obama resurrected it during his time in the presidency.”
