According to the physicians who were treating Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar Hamlin was so excited when watching his team play on Sunday night that his jumping heart rate and other indicators of excitement “set every alarm off in the ICU” as he watched.
Speaking on that, one of the doctors at the UC Medical Center said “We have permission from him [Hamlin] and his family to let you know that he did watch the game on Sunday.”
Continuing, that doctor then said “He was beyond excited. And feels very supported the outpouring of love from across the league. And especially from the Buffalo area.”
Ending on a funny note about the excitement of Hamlin as he watched the game and how that triggered the ICU alarms, the doctor said “He watched the game yesterday when the opening kickoff was run back [for a touchdown] he jumped up and down, got out of his chair. Set, I think, every alarm off in the ICU in the process.”

That video update followed Hamlin posting a picture from the ICU with the comment “GAMETIME!!!”

The next day, Hamlin tweeted out that he was going home, saying “Headed home to Buffalo today with a lot of love on my heart. 🫶🏾 Watching the world come together around me on Sunday was truly an amazing feeling. The same love you all have shown me is the same love that I plan to put back into the world n more. Bigger than football! 🫶🏾”
People posted mainly positive messages on that post, saying things like:
The great news continues to flow in about Damar Hamlin who is on to the next phase of his rehabilitation by going back to Buffalo. Keep those prayers coming and make sure to include Peyton Hillis who is fighting for his life after saving his kids from drowning. 🙏🏾❤️

Hamlin is a known family man, hard worker, and Christian. He said in one interview, for instance:
“I’m extremely close to my family. My mom, she was sixteen when she had me and I just try to think about when I was sixteen years old and I just couldn’t imagine having a little boy… It was probably so stressful but both of my parents had my young, at sixteen and pretty much since that point they put everything they had into me to get me to where we are right now today…
“It was us at first, just me and my mom and my dad and they taught me hard work. They taught me you gotta work for everything you and basically they just taught me all of the lessons of life.”
In another he spoke on his faith, saying “My faith is in God. So whatever He has planned for me, that’ll be it.”
