Famous rapper Swae Lee recently took to social media, encouraging his followers not to support Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential bid after Joe Biden dropped out of the race. The Grammy Award-winning musician instructed the American public not to vote for Harris in November and to do their “research.”
“Do not vote for Kamala !!! Do your research on that whole camp,” Lee posted on X. Lee, whose full name is Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, did not indicate what he opposes about Kamala Harris in the brief post. However, in subsequent activity on X, Lee reposted videos from the 2020 Democratic presidential debates where Harris was called out on her prosecutorial record by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI).
“Senator Harris says she’s proud of her record as a prosecutor and that she’ll be a prosecutor president. But I’m deeply concerned about this record. There are too many examples to cite but she put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said
The representative from Hawaii continued, “I want to bring the conversation back to the broken criminal justice system that is disproportionately negatively impacting black and brown people all across this country today, Senator Harris says she’s proud of her record as a prosecutor and that she’ll be a prosecutor president, but I’m deeply concerned about this record. There are too many examples to cite, but she put over 1500 people in jail for marijuana violations, and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana.”
Gabbard continued, “She blocked evidence — she blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until the courts forced her to do so. She kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California. And she fought to keep a bail system in place that impacts poor people in the worst kind of way.”
Then-Senator Harris responded to the accusations from Gabbard, claiming that she made substantial improvements to the criminal justice system during her tenure as attorney general in California. “As the elected attorney general of California, I did the work of significantly reforming the criminal justice system of a state of 40 million people, which became a national model for the work that needs to be done. And I am proud of that work,” she said.
In another post, Lee further criticized Kamala Harris, claiming that her agenda does not represent the interests of the black community. “The money we sent away every American citizen could’ve got minimal 200 grand think about that but I guess we don’t need the sh*t and yall standing for Kamala. My black people she don’t do nothing but sign off on things against yall ….(us) voting just cuz you think she’s black is not going to end in your favor,” he wrote.

In a dispute in the comments section with another user, Lee also highlighted Trump’s record with the black community. “Bro you voting for her cuz you think she’s black she’s black and Indian she she don’t lean to the black side she just took annestate away from a black woman yall don’t research go look at what trump did for blacks hbcus all type shit media don’t show everything bro,” he said.
