Disney, Hollywood and God aren’t what you would call “good bedfellows”. It is extremely unpopular in Hollywood to openly express faith and a love of Jesus.
However, for Joshua Bassett, star of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” the time and place was exactly right for him to profess his faith, give a powerful testimony and deliver an important message to kids watching everywhere that God is indeed real and can be counted on when times are hard. Of course, this take has infuriated leftists on Twitter. The Daily Wire said this:
Joshua Bassett, star of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” firmly declared his Christian faith while giving a speech at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Saturday.
The 22-year-old Disney star was accepting the award for “Favorite Male TV star” of a kids’ show when he made the declaration of faith. Bassett began by thanking his fans and the cast and crew. He continued saying, “I’d love to thank my Savior, Jesus Christ.”
Bassett could have stopped there and continued on, thanking his fans, family, and agent and probably been able to escape the inevitable backlash. However, he wasn’t done, and doubled down with his powerful message. The Daily Wire continued:
“I want to say something. There are a lot of people here who are burdened, broken-hearted, and have been beaten down by life,” the “High School Musical” actor said.
“I’m here to tell you: for those of you who’ve lost hope, there’s a very real God who loves you more than you will ever possibly know,” Bassett continued. “His promise is peace and my testimony is my healing.”
“Remember: Forgive quickly, love freely and walk courageously,” Bassett concluded. “Love always wins in the end.”
That is a powerful testimony from someone who has lived what he is talking about. Bassett fearlessly conveyed his message, and despite identifying as lgbtq, declared his faith and trust in something bigger than all of his problems. The Daily Wire continued:
Joshua Bassett is giving brainwashed vibes and it’s kind of disturbing to witness. In the span of just 2-3 months his entire personality has seemingly changed. Like he’s joined a cult. Him being a young queer man with mental health issues, it looks as if he’s being prayed upon.

He has plenty of experience with the struggles of being a child star, and how God can pull you out of any abyss if you lean into his love. Sadly, the people who need this message the most were spending their time on Twitter condemning Bassett’s message of love and acceptance.
It’s ironic that a group of people that champion queer gender theory and drag shows for “impressionable” children suddenly have such a problem with Joshua Bassett talking about God in front of “impressionable” children. Hypocrites much?
This is so gross why the hell would Joshua Bassett pull this shit to an audience of children 🥴 pic.twitter.com/ofwMa4hx5q

Bassett was baptized at Bethel Church, a non-denominational church in Redding, California. In a video he is seen saying:
“My name is Joshua Bassett,” the actor can be heard saying. “Long story short, I grew up Christian and I ran the other way, as far as I could go, in pursuit of the ‘truth.’”
“That only ended in addiction, depression, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, et cetera,” the “Better Nate Than Never” alum continued. “No other teacher gave me anywhere near the peace that Jesus Christ did.”
“I’m here to publicly declare him as my Lord and savior,”
It remains to be seen if the left will do to Bassett what they have done to so many before him that dared stray from the approved narrative. Even if they do, it appears he will be just fine. He has a strong testimony, and has come out the other side with his faith intact. People like that tend to be uncancelable in a more important way. While Hollywood might take away what he has earned, God will not, and he has that to fall back on. That might make the left see red, but God will always have his back.
