A homeowner in Maryland is getting shredded on social media for allegedly calling Immigration and Customs Enforcement on a group of six Guatemalan construction workers as they were doing renovations on her home. The owner, a woman, called ICE on the men who were then detained by immigration enforcement authorities on March 25 as they worked on her property.

The men, ranging in age from 18 to 40, had traveled from Glen Burnie to begin the remodel when immigration enforcement agents intervened. One of their co-workers, Bryan Polanco, pulled out his phone and started livestreaming the incident for half an hour. Polanco was not arrested due to having permanent residency in the U.S.

“We practically had a project to start today… when they started the work, the homeowner kind of called immigration,” Polanco said. In one scene from the video, ICE agents sporting masks can be seen on the ground floor of the property, surrounding the house. Another clip from the lengthy stream shows the men sitting on the ground as authorities surround them.

According to a report on AOL, Polanco provided updates on what was happening, while also turning the camera on the homeowner, hard at work cleaning up her yard after the men were taken into custody. The conclusion of the footage captured of the incident shows the worksite with tarps and ladders left here, there, and everywhere in front of the woman’s house as she stands to the side.

The workers’ vehicle and tools were also left behind. Polanco then claimed the woman told him that if immigrants are sent to work on her house again, she will “always call ICE.” He then said, “What she did tell me, and what I told one of the other guys, is that if immigrants come back again to finish the project, she will always call ICE.”

One of the six men has two children and a pregnant wife. When the press spoke with her, she said that her husband and the others working with him came to the United States to build a better life, not to cause any trouble. The homeowner was ripped to pieces on social media. One user branded the woman who called ICE “sick.” Another user said, “This is honestly one of the sickest, most disgusting thing’s I’ve read in a while.”

Others said that the woman would experience bad “karma” for her actions. “Karma will find her, and it will cost her more than 10k. What goes around comes around. The world is a mirror. If you put out hate, it will give it back at ya,” another X user stated. A user who shared a clip of the video on social media platform X said, “This is diabolical and also kind of funny. I personally wouldn’t do this but I have to give credit where credit is due.”

Another user who commented on the video said, “I recall a famous comedian picking up day laborers and taking them to the INS office years ago.” Someone else noted that illegal immigrants like the ones arrested in the video take jobs from Americans. “They can go back to Guatemala. Look at those nice trucks. Americans need those jobs. American roofing companies went out of business 20 yrs ago trying to compete with low wages, no taxes illegal labor,” the individual wrote.
