In big news from the Trump Administration, it announced that it has fired four employees who directly subverted the president’s orders and paid tens of millions of dollars to luxury hotels to house illegal immigrants despite having been ordered not to do so. The DHS announced as much in a statement that called ou the “deep state activists” that compose the bureaucracy.
Such is what the DHS announced in a statement titled “Statement from a DHS Spokesperson on Termination of 4 FEMA Employees Who Made Payments to Luxury Hotels for Migrants” that was posted on Tuesday, February 11, and described what the employees did and why it was wrong.
Beginning, the statement described what happened and who was fired, saying, “Effective immediately, FEMA is terminating the employment of four individuals for circumventing leadership to unilaterally make egregious payments for luxury NYC hotels for migrants. Firings include FEMA’s Chief Financial Officer, two program analysts and a grant specialist.”
Continuing and concluding, the short statement took the opportunity to note that, this time around, the Trump Administration is fighting back against bureaucrats who don’t follow its orders. It said, “Under President Trump and Secretary Noem’s leadership, DHS will not sit idly and allow deep state activists to undermine the will and safety of the American people.”
The firings come after Elon has taken the fight to FEMA on X. For example, in a post on X on Monday, February 10, Elon commented on the massive amount of money spent on housing illegal migrants in expensive NYC hotels, saying, “The DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.”
Similarly, in yet another post on the matter, Elon called out FEMA as being “pure evil” for putting illegal immigrant hotels first and Americans Last with its allocation of disaster relief, saying, “Under Biden, FEMA took money AWAY from Americans in need of disaster relief and spent it on 5 star hotels for illegals. Pure evil.”
That came in response to a post from Nick Sortor, who said, “They told us FEMA had NO money for Americans on Maui. NO money for Americans in East Palestine, Ohio. NO money for Americans in Western North Carolina. BUT FEMA HAD AN EXTRA $1 BILLION TO SPEND ON ILLEGALS?? WTF? This is CRIMINAL!”

Trump and Elon spoke about the matter as well in a press event from the White House. Doing so, they commented on the immense amount of waste that went into funding the hotel rooms for migrants, with the government paying twice the normal rate for the hotels just to house illegal immigrants.
Pointing out the infuriating nature of the matter on X and summing up what Trump and Elon said, X political commentator Dustin Grage wrote, “
BREAKING: Elon Musk and Trump reveal that FEMA paid DOUBLE the normal hotel rate to house illegal immigrants in luxury NYC hotels. All while disaster victims in North Carolina were left living in tents for months. Beyond infuriating.”
