DHS Destroys Massive DEI And LGBTQ Funding Grants from the Biden Era

Striking a major blow against the DEI and LGBTQ agendas, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under Secretary Kristi Noem, has canceled a staggering $18.5 million in woke Biden-era grants for the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships. These “Ideologically driven” and wasteful programs are a distraction from national security.

For context, as part of a broader goal to redirect funds to initiatives that reflect American values and align with national security instead of woke ideology.  Cuts include slashing $209,407 to groups promoting radical gender ideology to K-12 students, among other egregious wastes of taxpayers’ funds.

In any case, Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary of DHS, addressed the massive cuts. She explained, “These cancellations reflect DHS’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and national security. By eliminating wasteful and ideologically driven programs, we are redirecting resources to initiatives that uphold American values, respect the rule of law and effectively combat terrorism and violence.”

One of the programs, The Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3), lost 20% of its staff to cuts, prompting William Braniff, the woke director of the initiative, to resign in protest. He whined, “CP3 is the inheritor of the primary and founding mission of DHS — to prevent terrorism… [its approach] is as effective for preventing school shootings as it is for terrorism prevention.”

Still not down, Braniff continued his rant, whining, “[Grant applications last year increased 82% and 27 states were lined up to work with the center to create plans to address targeted violence and prevent terrorism; 16 states already had plans in place or were creating them.]”

Concluding his remarks and explaining his decision to step down, the bureaucrat said,
“I decided the best thing I could do for the staffers and for the center was to resign alongside of them, as some agencies and departments have rehired people in mission critical offices once they were made aware of the implications of those terminations.”

As we reported, the President’s Office of Personnel Management has just released a memo announcing the end of DEI in federal hiring. Not only will this memo end racial quotas and unfair preferences in the hiring process but it will also halt the collection of statistics on what members of various races, ethnicities, sexes, are hired by the government.

Starting with a strong moral argument, the memo stated, “The American people deserve a Federal workforce dedicated to American values and efficient service. Yet, Federal hiring criteria long ago abandoned any serious need for technical skills and adherence to the Constitution. Instead, the overly complex Federal hiring system overemphasized discriminatory “equity” quotas and too often resulted in the hiring of unfit, unskilled bureaucrats. The American people, who deserve a government that works for them, have suffered.”

Instead of innate characteristics or woke ideology, new hiring practices will focus on patriotism and competence. The memo declared, “OPM’s Talent Team, working with agency Talent Teams, will launch a government-wide recruitment effort to attract ‘individuals committed to improving the efficiency of the Federal government, passionate about the ideals of our American republic, and committed to upholding
the rule of law and the United States Constitution’ to Federal service.”
