Tragedy struck Sterling Heights, Detroit, on the night of Saturday, February 3rd. then, 43-year-old Thair Dado, who was married and had a 16-year-old son, was working a part-time job at a Detroit liquor store when he saw thieves trying to steal his car and tried to stop them. The thieves, rather than running away, killed Mr. Dado.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, the incident occurred when Mr. Dado took out the trash from All Stars Beverage Liquor Store at about 11:30 in the evening. When he did so, he saw his car backing out of the parking lot. Obviously not content with his car leaving without him in it, Mr. Dado rushed into action to see what was going on.
Sadly, however, that was the wrong decision, as the thieves were armed. When Mr. Dado ran over to his car, the thieves inside of it opened fire, shooting him to death. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime and the suspects succeeded in stealing his vehicle.
Mr. Dado’s nephew, Manar Dano, described what happened when Mr. Dado approached his car and the thieves in it, trying to stop them. Dano said, “And then all of a sudden, the passenger seat just opens, and then they start shooting him.” Emphasizing how sad that was because of the legacy Mr. Dado leaves behind, Manar said, “He’s one of the most amazing people; everyone in the family loves him, and all his friends love him.”
Manar also emphasized the senselessness of the death over the heavily used car, worth only a few thousand dollars, saying, “It’s like a 2015 or 2014 Hyundai that has like 350 thousand miles on it. Yeah, he got it for like three or four thousand.” Left behind Mr. Dano are his wife and his 16-year-old son.
Emphasizing the family’s plight now that the major breadwinner has been killed by thieves, Manar added, “He was the man of the house, paying the mortgage and everything else. I don’t know what they’re going to do now.”
A GoFundMe has been created to help Mr. Dado’s family in their time of need. As of the time this article was written, it has raised about $89,000 out of a $100,000 goal. It provides, “Loved ones have created a GoFundMe for the family of THAIR DADO, a man killed Saturday night while working at a liquor store in Detroit. THIAR was a devoted hardworking man, a loving husband to his wife Zina Francis, and an amazing father to his son Steven.”
It continues, “The Unseen Weight of Loss: Tragically, Thair’s light was extinguished by an act of violence, leaving a void that can only be filled with compassion and support. As the sole provider, his untimely departure has cast a heavy burden on his family, especially his wife and 16-year-old son. A Family’s Journey Through Darkness: Imagine being a spouse suddenly navigating life without your partner, and a teenager facing the tumultuous waters of adolescence, stripped of the guiding hand that shaped their world. Thair’s wife and son now face a challenging path, his absence casting shadows over their once bright future.”
It then calls on the community to help Mr. Dado’s wife and son, saying, “Our Call to Illuminate: Our Chaldean community is in awe of this young man! Let’s offer up prayers for his soul and help his wife and son with the arrangement cost and any other needs that arise. He was the sole provider for his family, and his devastating departure has left a heavy burden on them. Let’s lift them up in our prayers. But in the face of this darkness, we have the power to be beacons of hope. Your support can help light the way for Thair’s family, providing them the strength to overcome financial hardships and continue the legacy of love and support he began. How You Can Make a Difference: By contributing to this fund, you become a part of a community that rallies around love and support. Your donation serves as a symbolic candle, collectively dispelling the shadows that threaten to engulf Thair’s family.”
Concluding, the GoFundMe provides, “Let us honor Thair’s memory by turning grief into action. Together, we can ensure that his family continues to walk a path illuminated by the kindness and generosity of those who believe in the power of community and the transformative impact it can have on families in need. Thank you for being a beacon of hope in this difficult time. Your support echoes the enduring spirit of Thair and will.”
