Mike Davis, who used to be a top Republican Senate Judiciary Committee aide, recently pointed out the obvious about what Democrats are trying to do to stop former President Donald Trump from running again in 2024, saying:
“If Democrats are so confident that they could beat President Trump, why do they try to use these extreme legal measures to prevent the American people from voting for him?”
And what are those “extreme legal measures”? They’re everything: the left is throwing the kitchen sink at him and hoping something, anything sticks.
There are the well-known “investigations” into the former President, of course.
The January 6th Kangaroo Court is acting as ridiculously as ever, persecuting the former president and dragging people before it in an attempt to humiliate him and make him look bad before the electorate.
Then there’s the recently announced Special Counsel that AG Garland recently announced, saying:
“It is in the public interest to appoint a special prosecutor to independently manage an investigation and prosecution based on recent developments, including [Trump’s] announcement that he is a candidate for president in the next election and the sitting president’s stated intention to be a candidate as well.”
And the New York AG is sniffing around his company’s valuations and real estate activities, obviously looking for something, anything, to prosecute.
And, of course, there’s the FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, which we just learned recovered not the “nuclear secrets” the Jan 6th Committee types claimed he was selling to the Saudis or Russians, but rather just mementos from his time in office.
But those are just the well-known, high-profile “extreme legal measures” being thrown at Trump.
In addition to those, there are a number of smaller ones that could also cause problems for the former president, as the Washington Times reported, saying:
The Fulton County, Georgia, district attorney opened a criminal investigation nearly two years ago into Mr. Trump’s actions to overturn the state’s 2020 election results, which narrowly favored Mr. Biden.
Mr. Trump also faces a lawsuit filed against him, the Trump Organization and its senior management, by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Ms. James has been pledging to take down Mr. Trump for years, calling him “an illegitimate president” in 2018. Her lawsuit accuses Mr. Trump and his family and senior business executives of inflating his net worth to secure favorable terms for business loans.
Media reports say federal prosecutors in New York are investigating claims that Mr. Trump’s media company broke federal securities law. The government also may be investigating whether Mr. Trump tried to sic the IRS on two political opponents, former FBI Director James B. Comey and his top deputy, Andrew McCabe, who were audited while Mr. Trump was president.
Despite the Dems throwing the kitchen sink at him, Trump has shown no signs of backing down.
Instead, when speaking with Fox News, Trump struck a bellicose tone and called on allies to rally to him, saying:
“I have been going through this for six years — for six years I have been going through this, and I am not going to go through it anymore. And I hope the Republicans have the courage to fight this.”
