Eileen Wang, the now-former mayor of the California town of Arcadia, has been caught acting illegally on behalf of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), one of America’s main geopolitical competitors and strategic antagonists. Predictably, the Democrat-media complex acted quickly to blame “racism” for her being caught, and go on the attack against those who want to hold her accountable.
As background, the Department of Justice announced the charges against Wang in a press statement in which it noted, “The mayor of Arcadia has been charged in federal court with acting as an illegal agent of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), the Justice Department announced today.” Wang resigned on May 11, after getting caught, and is now the former mayor.
Continuing, it explained, “Eileen Wang, 58, of Arcadia, is charged via information with one count of acting in the United States as an illegal agent of a foreign government. In a related filing, Wang has agreed to plead guilty to the felony count, which comes with a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.”
Further, the DOJ contended that Wang spent the 2020 to 2022 period collaborating with an individual named Yaoning “Mike” Sun to not just advocate for the PRC’s interests, but to manage a website that published pro-PRC material under the PRC’s orders, while claiming to simply be a news outlet for Chinese Americans.
Noting that Wang had admitted to it, Assistant Director Roman Rozhavsky of the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Espionage Division was quoted in the press release as saying, “By her own admission, Eileen Wang secretly served the interests of the Chinese government. Let this serve as a clear warning: Individuals who act on behalf of foreign governments to influence our democracy will be identified, investigated, and brought to justice. Protecting the rule of law and the transparency of our democratic process remains at the core of the FBI’s mission, and we will continue working alongside our partners to safeguard the integrity of our elections and keep hostile actors from undermining the voices of the American people.”
Still, Democrats and the media complex that supports them have not only been taking Wang’s side, but also claiming that the investigation of and into her is motivated not by national security concerns, but by racism motivated by the fact that she is of Chinese descent.
NBC News, for example, claimed that the arrest and prosecution of Wang and the discussion surrounding it was racism targeting Chinese migrants. “Advocates said they are concerned that this rhetoric is part of a long history of fear and discrimination that has proliferated for generations in regard to Asian communities, especially Chinese immigrants,” it claimed.

Continuing, it even warned that the real problem here is not that a Chinese woman was doing the PRC’s bidding while being an elected official in America, but that bad things might happen to other Chinese migrants in the future. It said, “Experts who spoke to NBC News said Asian people in the U.S. are often treated as perpetual outsiders, which can motivate violence in some cases.”
That wasn’t all. Speaking to NBC News, Democratic California Rep. Judy Chu said that she was “shocked and disappointed” by the charges against Wu. She said, in a statement defending the traitor, “The Asian American community has already weathered stigma, prejudice, and violence, fueled by rhetoric from President Trump and his administration.”
She added, “We saw this in the violent anti-Asian hate crimes during COVID-19, and the unfair targeting of scholars of Chinese descent in Trump’s ‘China Initiative’ program — both of which I have fought against in Congress.”
