Democrats Melt Down as Speaker Johnson Refuses to Memorialize J6 Capitol Police Response with J6 Plaque

In a massive meltdown, House Democrats, led by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), have protested Speaker Mike Johnson’s refusal to display a plaque honoring police officers who quelled the protests at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Democrats have taken to leaving replica plaques outside their offices until Johnson complies as a lame form of protest.

For context, since the January 6 debacle, Democrats, such as Raskin, have treated the date as if it were a national day of mourning. Propelled by this absurd elusion, Democrats passed a law requiring a memorial plaque to be displayed in Congress.

Such was shown when the House Judiciary Democrats made a dramatic public statement, saying, “Congress passed a law to place a plaque in the Capitol honoring the officers who protected the transfer of power, Members of Congress, and Vice President Pence on January 6. The plaque is complete and long overdue for display. But Speaker Johnson is leaving it in a dark closet rather than honor those who protected him on that day.”

Supporting this absurd statement, Rep. Jamie Raskin.“It’s now two years overdue… [The plaque] honors the sacrifice and the valor, the commitment of the police officers who saved us—the members of the House and Senate, who saved the vice president, who saved American democracy from a violent effort to overturn the presidential election…”

Continuing his melodramatic remarks, Raskin added, “Speaker Johnson refuses to put it up. He’s consistently refused to put it up. We’ve sent a letter to all of our colleagues saying, put this up until Speaker Johnson complies with the law…”

Still not done melting down, the Democrat argued that their biased recount of the election was apolitical. He stated, “And there should be nothing controversial about this, and people should stop trying to rewrite the history of what happened on January 6.”

Explaining their absurd claims, House Democrats posted on X, “Congress passed a law to place a plaque in the Capitol honoring the officers who protected the transfer of power, Members of Congress, and VP Pence on Jan 6. The plaque is complete and long overdue for display. But Speaker Johnson is leaving it in a dark closet rather than honor those who protected him on that day.”

Concluding their absurd remarks, the official Twitter account stated, “That’s why  @RepRaskin and  @HouseDemocrats are placing replicas outside their doors until the official plaque is displayed in the Capitol where it belongs.”

In the comments under the announcement, conservatives blasted the theatrical move. One such comment said, “No plaque honoring the officers who protected the White House against a mob of bomb throwing “protesters” who tried to storm it in May of 2020? And protected federal buildings all across the country throughout the summer of 2020? Of course not,” adding, “Your plaque isn’t a memorial. It’s a partisan political statement.”

Building on this point, another added, “Possibly because America knows what really transpired and we do not wish to honor it. Does Congress ever listen to the people anymore? Vote rigging is not going to be easy going forward.”
