Once again joining the party late, prominent Democrats are finally admitting what sane people have been saying for the past two years about Kamala Harris. Basically, she is wholly unfit and unqualified – and undesired – for the role of executive branch leadership.
As retold by Fox News, anonymous sources inside the Beltway are at the point of even questioning her “basic political skills.” Again, this isn’t new; there’s a reason she dropped out of the 2020 presidential primaries after polling at 1% and running out of cash.
She makes Hillary Clinton look personable. At least the one thing you couldn’t say about Hillary is that she was dumb.
Now, with a senile and increasingly angry Joe Biden fumbling at the helm, reality is hitting home as the DNC has to figure out its move in 2024. They need a strong contender to go up against Donald Trump, as appears likely, and it would be an absolute trainwreck to pit Kamala against the former president on the debate stage or on the campaign trail.
Fox News reports that Democrats are expressing concern about her potential to lead the party or even remain on the ticket come the next election cycle.
In an earlier article titled “Some Democrats are worried about Harris’s political prospects,” Washington Post writer Cleve R. Wootson Jr. summarized the thoughts of “more than a dozen Democratic leaders in key states,” also adding that these sources expressed concerns about any viable political future available to Harris after her abysmal stint as vice president.
“Harris’s tenure has been underwhelming, they said, marked by struggles as a communicator and at times near-invisibility, leaving many rank-and-file Democrats unpersuaded that she has the force, charisma, and skill to mount a winning presidential campaign,” Wootson wrote.
It isn’t just insiders and suits seeing the obvious issues. Some former citizen supporters of the vice president likewise have their doubts.
“People are poised to pounce on anything — any misstep, any gaffe, anything she says — and so she’s probably not getting the benefit of the doubt,” said former Cobb County Democrats Chair Jacquelyn Bettadapur, a Harris supporter. She added, “It doesn’t help that she’s not [that] adept as a communicator.”
As if it weren’t bad enough to have anonymous sources abandoning Harris, other prominent Democrats have gone on record distancing themselves. One of those Democrats was Senator Elizabeth Warren, who referenced her past collegial relationship but stopped at endorsing her.
“I really want to defer to what makes Biden comfortable on his team,” Warren said. “I’ve known Kamala for a long time. I like Kamala. I knew her back when she was an attorney general and I was still teaching and we worked on the housing crisis together, so we go way back. But they need — they have to be a team, and my sense is they are — I don’t mean that by suggesting I think there are any problems. I think they are.”
Wootsen received a follow-up comment from Warren, who clearly struck a nerve and backtracked on her initial statement.
“I fully support the president’s and vice president’s re-election together, and never intended to imply otherwise,” the Massachusetts Senator said.
Fox News added:
Among other Democrats, however, the article elaborated on the fears that “Americans are simply not willing to elect a woman of color as president” while “Harris herself lacks the political skills to win a national race.”
“And given the increasingly hard-edged tone of the Republican Party, they add, few Democrats are willing to roll the dice,” Wootsen wrote.
