Defund the FBI: Top GOP Figure Calls for Major Repurcussions Until FBI Gets Answers

Appearing last Tuesday on Fox News Channel to discuss the Twitter Files and fallout from them with FNC’s Maria Bartiromo, particularly the horrifying news about the FBI shredding the Constitution by working through Twitter to deprive Americans of their First Amendment rights, Rep. James Comer, who is expected to be the incoming chair of the House Oversight Committee, called for the defunding of the FBI.

That came when Rep. Comer was asked by Bartiromo about what was then the latest release of the Twitter files, which showed that the FBI had been working very, very closely with Twitter to censor conservatives and that the scope of that censorship operation went far beyond just being a few rogue agents. Speaking on that, Rep. Comer said:

“Well, it means a lot more evidence of wrongdoing. You know, in the beginning, I thought that there were probably two or three rogue employees who were orchestrating this cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop story. But now we know the FBI had a division of at least 80 agents.”

Continuing, he explained what the FBI was doing and exposed it as having spent millions on paying Twitter to censor at its behest, saying “We also know that the FBI paid Twitter over $3 million for their time, all the time they took over the past couple of years in telling them who to suppress, who to ban. You know, it’s just things that the government has no role in.”

He added that the FBI had never been granted the authority to do that, saying “The FBI was never granted the authority to create any type of disinformation task force that policed the social media sites.”

He then connected the Twitter Files information with what has come out about the censorship operation at Facebook and the FBI’s involvement in it, saying:

“Now, this we know with Twitter, we’ve heard similar stories from Zuckerberg. Who knows what went on at YouTube and Google? This is an agency that’s out of control.”

“And the most frustrating thing for me right now, Maria, is the fact that in this omnibus bill, there’s increased funding for the FBI, plus a $1.75 billion headquarters facility for the FBI. We need to halt everything with the FBI, all funding, until they come forward and explain to Congress exactly what they were doing, why they were doing it, and who gave them the authority to do it.”

And what solution did Rep. Comer propose for dealing with the situation? Defunding the FBI until it starts answering questions and stops demanding censorship online. In his words:

“I mean, the one thing that we had the ability to do is. Is stop the spending,” the upcoming oversight chair explained. “Stop the spending and, you know, we need an FBI. We really do. But this FBI is out of control. It’s doing things that Congress never granted the authority to do.”
