Antonio Ortiz, 22, allegedly flew threw a Dallas area stop sign at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. In so doing, he allegedly killed a young couple that was in a car turning across the intersection, thinking they were protected by the intersection’s stop sign. The killed couple was 18-year-old Milena Wilske and her boyfriend, Angel Ortuno.

Fox News reports that a friend of Wilske’s, Joshua Reyes, said that the alleged killer was flying through the intersection at a high rate of speed. Reyes, commenting on the crash and the car’s speed, said, “You could see marks all over the road and mud. It just shows the amount of force that was put upon that car and upon them.”

According to the Dallas Police Department as cited by Fox News Digital, it appears that Ortiz was going between 60 and 70 miles per hour when he sped through the stop sign and slammed into Wilske and Ortuno, killing them. Ortiz was charged with two counts of manslaughter for the killings, but was then released from jail on Monday on a $150,000 bond after posting bail Monday night. “Ortiz’s defense attorney told FOX 4 they are conducting their own investigation into the cause of the crash,” Fox 4 KDFW reported.

Angelica Ortuno, the little sister of the slain Angel Ortuno, said that her manager at work, Big Shucks Oyster Bar, had to break the news to her when she showed up at work on Sunday morning after the Saturday night crash. Speaking to Fox 4 KDFW, she said, “She basically told us that Mila was brain dead, and they didn’t know anything about my brother. So he was missing. I tried calling him, and it was going straight to voicemail.”

Continuing, Angelica said that at least her older brother and his girlfriend were happy when they died, as they died together, saying, “I’m happy for them that they died together because he died happy.” She added that they were the loves of each other’s lives, telling Fox 4 KDFW, “He died with the love of his life, and I could say the same for Mila.”

Angelica then added that now, in the wake of the tragedy, her family is furious that Ortiz was let out of jail on bail despite the horrific nature of the crash, with his irresponsibly high speed seeming to have played a roll in their deaths. She said, speaking about the family’s feelings once Ortiz was released, “Obviously, we’re hurt because we just want justice for them.”

Then, commenting on how the tragedy has impacted her mother, particularly given that the family was planning to celebrate Angel’s 23rd birthday on Wednesday, March 13, but now has to plan his funeral instead. She said, “It was always us: me, my two brothers and my mom. It was always us four.” She added, “Now of her thinking it’s only us three, it’s taken a big toll on her.”
