“Dad, This Is What You Have to Do”: Trump Says Barron Advises Him on Politics

Speaking to Philadelphia’s Talk Radio 1210 WPHT on Friday, May 10, former President Donald Trump to the Kayal and Company hosts that his son Barron, now 18, is very interested in politics and often advises him on political matters. The news comes as Barron was announced as one of Florida’s delegates to the Republican National Convention, where he will likely help nominate his father.

It also comes as Trump tries to attend Barron’s graduation from high school despite the so-called “hush money” court case he is facing in New York, where Judge Merchan originally ruled that he would have to stay in court and miss the graduation ceremony, though now it looks like Trump will be able to attend it despite the ongoing trial.

In any case, Trump, talking about his son, first joked that he’s “a little on the tall side,” which is true, as Barron towers over even former President Trump. Trump then added that Barron is good looking and a good student. He said, “He’s a smart one…he’s a great guy. He’s a little on the tall side. I will tell you, he’s a tall one, but he is a good-looking guy. And he’s really been a great student.”

Continuing, Trump noted that Barron likes getting involved in politics and often advises him on political matters, telling him what he needs to do. Making that comment, Trump said, “And he does like politics. It’s sort of funny. He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do.’”

That would make sense, as it was recently reported that Barron, now 18 years old, is joining other high-profile Republicans in the Trump family in participating in the Florida Republican Party’s convention delegation. Those others include Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Don Jr’s fiance, Fox News commentator Kimberly Guilfoyle, and Michael Boulous, Tiffany Trump’s husband. Also going will be former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. However, it appears that Barron turned down that honor due to previous commitments.

Anyway, Trump spoke about Barron’s college plans, noting that the way schools are perceived is changing as they go crazier and crazier, as shown by the recent unrest. He said, “So, anyway, he’s a good guy. He’s a senior now in high school, and he’ll be going to college. And you know, a lot of, a lot of these choices of colleges are changing because you see what’s going on in the last month.”

Trump, speaking about the news wass getting involved in the political process on his behalf “very cute.” He said, “To me, that’s very cute. Because he’s a very young guy. And he’s graduated from high school this year. He’s a very good student, very smart. And I think that’s great.”

Continuing, he said that his son’s participation is “very interesting” because of how young he is, saying, “I think it’s very interesting to he’s pretty young, I will say, he’s 18. But if they can do that, um, I’m all for it. I think I’m all for it and he probably would be knowing him he would probably be for it too.”
