Woke actor Alec Baldwin must be having a very stressful week, as news just broke that he could be charged in the “Rust” shooting from about a year and a half ago (October of 2021) as soon as tomorrow. Such is what Fox News Digital reported, saying:
New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies will announce whether charges will be brought in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on Thursday.
There will be no press conference regarding the announcement.
“Regardless of the District Attorney’s decision, the announcement will be a solemn occasion, made in a manner keeping with the office’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the judicial process and respecting the victim’s family,” Heather Brewer, spokesperson for the office of the First Judicial District Attorney, said in a statement.
ABC, adding more details on the incident and investigation into it by the DA office, reported that:
Carmack-Altwies’ office said in October she would conduct a “thorough review of the information and evidence to make a thoughtful, timely decision about whether to bring charges” following a yearlong sheriff’s investigation into the on-set shooting.
Halyna Hutchins, 42, was working as a cinematographer on the Western when she was shot and killed by the film’s star, Baldwin, during an accident while he was practicing using a Colt .45 revolver on set. Director Joel Souza was also injured in the shooting.
Souza reportedly told investigators that Baldwin was sitting in a pew in the area’s church practicing his cross draw, facing the camera and crew and pointing the revolver toward the camera lens, when the shooting occurred, according to a search warrant affidavit.
The film’s first assistant director, Dave Halls, had handed the gun to Baldwin while proclaiming “cold gun,” to let the crew know a gun with no live rounds was being used, according to a search warrant affidavit.
Hutchins was killed by a live round inside the gun, authorities said.
Alec Baldwin is one of the many Trump-hating actors in Hollywood. He played a very unflattering version of Trump on Saturday Night Live until he lost that gig following the “Rust” shooting. Trump took his revenge on Baldwin after the shooting, saying:
“He’s a troubled guy. There’s something wrong with him. I’ve watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters. He’s a cuckoo-bird. He’s a nutjob. And usually, when there’s somebody like that, you know, in my opinion, he had something to do with it.”
Adding to that, Trump also said:
“But if nothing else, how do you take a gun and just, whether it’s loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that’s not even in the movie and just point it at this person and pull the trigger and now she’s dead?”
“It’s weird. Who would take a gun and point it at a cinematographer and pull the trigger, and she’s dead?”
“As bad as it may have been kept, meaning you know the people that take care of the equipment and the guns and everything else… But even if it was loaded, and that’s a weird thing— maybe he loaded it.
“There’s something wrong with him. He’s a sick guy. I mean, I’ve seen him for years because he did. I thought a poor job of imitating me.”
