Country music superstar Jelly Roll is once again being raked over the coals on social media as he continues to issue responses to criticism he received for making jokes against President Donald Trump during his stint as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! During one particular monologue, Jelly Roll slammed Trump over his weight and referred to him as “full of s**t.”
“We can debate whether this president is mentally fit, but I think we can all agree he is certainly not physically fit,” the Grammy winner said, before playing a parody commercial for a fake weight-loss drug called “Donjaro.” A narrator, speaking over clips of the president, said, “Is your obesity making it difficult for you to focus on the things you love?”
Once the video ended, Jelly went on to joke, “Wouldn’t it be nice to see Trump lose something besides the war, his popularity and most of his f–king marbles? I believe in you, Mr. President. With a little hard work, one day your waistline will be just as thin as your skin.”
Jelly then received heavy criticism from MAGA supporters for the joke, which led to his issuing several replies, including one where he broke down into tears. Needless to say, not everyone was bamboozled by his crying act. Paul A. Szypula, a user on X, addressed the situation in a lengthy post that roasted Jelly and offered him some sage advice.
“My opinion of Jelly Roll just fell again. I saw that on Thursday he cried about dignity and tried to sound like the peacemaker after he had on Monday called Trump a fat pig. Jelly Roll should’ve just owned his joke. Crying is not an undo button. The fan base he insulted was already gone. The tears did not bring them back,” Szypula wrote.
“Crying made him look like a man who wanted the cheap laugh and then regretted the fallout. If he wanted to mock Trump, fine. Do it knowing fans will leave. If he had also aimed at Biden or another prominent Democrat, the Trump hit might have landed as equal-opportunity. But he only punched one side, then didn’t like the result,” he continued in the post.
“Jelly Roll is scrambling now because he does not seem to know who he wants to be. That is how you get stuck on both sides of the fence. Pick a side. People admire conviction more than perpetual second-guessing. I lost a lot of my liberal friends in advertising when I came out as a Trump supporter. I never doubted the call. I never tried to keep quiet to keep ‘friends,’” he added.

“It’s fine to change your mind when the facts change. But it’s not fine to backtrack just to keep a crowd that’s not worth keeping. Do that and you lose the crowd and your own self-respect. Don’t be like Jelly Roll. Be yourself. That is what people actually admire. It is also how Trump won the presidency twice,” Szypula concluded.
Others on X stated that they would no longer be supporting Jelly Roll and his music. “I removed all of his music and it’s never coming back. Stupid move against the people who put him there to appease liberals who wouldn’t give his music or him the time of day!” a user said. “I’m done with him and I did love his music plus his testimony of salvation. Now I’m not too sure he was saved,” said another. “Kimmel manipulated him. Jelly is a grown man, so still responsible, but who did all of this benefit? Just one person,” someone else wrote.
