Biblical movies are seeing a resurgence in recent years following the successes of “Jesus Revolution” and “The Chosen.” Now, the creators of “The Chosen” have broken crowdfunding records and are set to release a new “Biblically accurate” drama called “His Only Son.”
“His Only Son” is a film centered around the relationship of Abraham and Isaac which will be released on March 31. According to Fox News, the group that created the movie, Angel Studios, said, “This is the first time a theatrical release has been crowdfunded in entertainment history.”
Angel Studios CEO Neal Harmon spoke about the excitement surrounding the new film, in a quote shared by Fox News. He said:
“Crowdfunding for ‘His Only Son’ reached capacity in 100 hours – we are responding to the demand from the audience by at least tripling the theater count nationwide and throwing our most valuable marketing resources behind the film. The Angel Guild, made up of Angel investors from every show, have rated this film with one of the highest scores we have ever received in our system.”
Angel Studios has successfully carved a niche in the overcrowded film industry that was nearly untouched until their arrival. Fans all around the world have been longing for shows and movies that match their Christian values, and Angel Studios has begun satiating that thirst with incredible speed and quality. The third season of their show “The Chosen” was received incredibly well by fans. Neal Harmon told Fox News Digital exactly that:
“We know they are eager for the kind of stories Angel has to offer, so we’ve worked hard to reach families and let them know they have a home at Angel. The audience is finding that home, and they’re showing up to support both our projects and projects from friends like [‘Jesus Revolution’ director] Jon Erwin that also amplify light. It’s a thrilling time to be in this space.”
This kind of fan support is the reason that Angel Studios has become so impactful in today’s film world. They have broken the mold that Hollywood has tried to create, where shows and movie have to be inclusive of all woke ideas and must stay clear of Christian values. Now, families can enjoy these Angel Studio’s productions together and, at the same time, become stronger in their most important beliefs. Harmon recounted a time where he was approached by a mother who said these films changed her family’s lives:
“A lady who was in my neighborhood came up to me in the store, and she had tears in her eyes. She said, ‘Our 21-year-old daughter had lost her faith, but after we decided to watch “The Chosen” together, it changed all of our lives.’ I was stunned.”
Fans will no doubt be rushing to theaters to see “His Only Son” if the success of “The Chosen” was any indication. According to The American Tribune, movie ticket sellers were struggling to keep their websites online amid the influx of Angel Studios fans purchasing a seat to the show:
Fans of the show “The Chosen” crashed the site where they could get tickets for it, Fathom Events, after news broke about when and where they would be able to watch the finale of Season 3 of the show. “The Chosen” is a highly popular series exploring Jesus Christ through the eyes of those closest to him.
