A man in Connecticut attempted to defend his property from thieves and, in the process, traded multiple blows with the four, would-be car thieves when they attempted a brazen broad-daylight car theft on April 10. The Rocky Hill, CT police department released a press release in which they described the savage attack and fight, saying:
On Monday, April 10, 2023 at approximately 7:02 P.M., Rocky Hill Police received an emergency 911 telephone call reporting a robbery on Valley View Drive. It was reported an active burglary of a motor vehicle was interrupted by the homeowner who had approached a single suspect who was within his vehicle. As the victim approached the suspect, a physical altercation began. During this physical altercation, three more suspects would come from a waiting vehicle and begin to assault the victim. The four suspects would leave the area in a dark blue or black four door Mercedes sedan.
Rocky Hill Police Officers responded and began to canvass the surrounding area. The vehicle or the four occupants were unable to be located. The incident was recorded on the homeowner’s surveillance camera.
The suspects are described as three younger in age black males and one younger in age white/Hispanic male. The suspects were wearing masks in an attempt to conceal their identities.
The victim would later be treated at a local hospital for his injuries. The Rocky Hill Police Detective Division responded and processed the scene. This incident is currently being investigated by the Rocky Hill Police Department Detective Division. If anyone has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Matthew Seguin at 860-258-2047 or at msequin@ Rockyhilict.gov
The police then posted a second Facebook post about the incident, saying: “On Monday, April 10, 2023 at approximately 7:02 P.M., a robbery occurred on Valley View Drive. A previous news release was provided to media outlets and the public on April 11, 2023. The incident was recorded on the homeowner’s surveillance camera. The surveillance video is being released in an attempt to identify the suspects. The depiction of the video and its audio may be upsetting or disturbing to some viewers”
“This incident is still being investigated by the Rocky Hill Police Department Detective Division. If anyone has any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Detective Matthew Seguin at 860-258-2047 or at [email protected]”
That post also included a video of the incident, showing the vehicle owner leaving his home and confronting the thieves, then proceeding to attempt to fight them off as they savagely beat him. Watch it here:
So, he was able to save his car, albeit at the price of a savage beating and some potentially dangerous blows to the body. Such is why most people worried about crime carry a handgun, or at least have a shotgun nearby: “God created men, Col. Colt made them equal.”
Had the car owner been armed, he could have avoided a savage beating and potentially ended the crime spree for good.
Regardless, at least he had the courage to stand up to criminals and succeeded in defending his property.
