As musicians and Hollywood continue to rally against the patriotism that made America great, two country stars banded together to create a Fourth of July anthem that spits in the face of the anti-American ideals in the music industry. Colt Ford and Krizz Kaliko came together to release “Bad Ass American,” an edgy song about the joy and pride that comes from being a hard-working American.
Colt Ford and Krizz Kaliko came together to form a group called the Hoodbillies, and they are off to a hot start after the debut of their new song. Colt Ford is widely known in the country genre as a singer and rapper that has steadily seen his fame grow over the last decade. Kaliko, on the other hand, maybe a bit newer to country music fans as he comes from the rap genre.
Ford and Kaliko spoke in an interview shared by Fox News Digital. Kaliko, who seems to have been the one to initiate the creation of the Hoodbillies, spoke about the reason for the title of the song. “I know that a lot of our fan base, our joint fan base definitely are proud Americans,” Kaliko began. “You know what I’m saying? And he talks about it a lot, I talk about it a lot. And so… it just hit me. I was thinking like, I want this guitar riff to sound a certain way. And man, I thought about walking in like a bad ass, bad ass American.”
Colt Ford picked up the torch from there, echoing the same message in a different way. “We just wanted to do something positive and fun and let people know,” Ford continued, “like, it’s OK to be a bad a– American. You’re supposed to be proud. You’re supposed to be a proud American. We’re proud of the flag. We’re proud of this country.”
Kaliko then went against the evermore present idea that stars and celebrities should be embarrassed of America due to political moves that the leftwing deems to be deplorable. “I’m going to be honest. There’s nowhere else I’d rather live. You know, I know that there’s, you know, that there’s a divide financially, racially, culturally, all of these other things in certain places in our country. But there’s no other place I’d rather live. I’m super proud to be from here.”
Kaliko says that the duo made this song so that families and friends can play it at get-togethers to remind themselves of that intense love for country that many have. “Why not have this anthem that everybody can play at the cookouts, barbecues, whatever you call it, light your fireworks. I think we should be proud.” He continued on later, saying, “We’re an independent nation, we’re the biggest, baddest nation.”
Ford’s July 4th anthem comes out alongside a revival in country music’s fortune, with two other stars, Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, delivering a first in four decades victory for the genre by commanding the two top spots on the Hot 100 chart. Watch the video here:
