Recently, country music legend George Strait broke the record for the largest attended concert in the U.S. when performing over the weekend at the Kyle Field stadium at Texas A&M in College Station. Reportedly, there were 110,905 fans in attendance at the concert on Saturday.
The massive concert was also Strait’s first time at Kyle Field, the State University. “We got some Aggie’s out there? Oh yeah! I’m ashamed to say this, but this is my first time to ever be in Kyle Field… damn,” Strait told the crowd of excited country music fans. “Just invite me back, I’ll come!”
Strait’s official X page indicated the venue was anticipating “record attendance” at the concert beforehand, writing, “With expected record attendance for tonight’s show at Kyle Field, plan your afternoon accordingly!”
Several prominent Texans were also in attendance to see the unquestionable “king of country music” perform. Governor Greg Abbott wrote on X, “Unbelievable concert by the King, George Strait. Largest packed house for a concert in America. Ever.”
Furthermore, Republican Sen. Ted Cruz was also in the crowd with his daughter Caroline. “Took my daughter Caroline to see @GeorgeStrait at Kyle Field @TAMU tonight. Great fun. Spectacular concert,” Cruz wrote on X, where he and his daughter posed for a picture with the famous musician.
Reportedly, the previous record for the largest concert in the United States was set by the Grateful Dead nearly 50 years ago in 1977, when the psychedelic band played to a crowd of 107,019 fans at New Jersey’s Raceway Park.
Notably, Strait officially announced that he was retiring from touring in 2012. However, well over a decade later, the country legend is proving that he isn’t done performing just yet. Strait is also set to release another album this fall.
One source told Fox News Digital, “The energy was absolutely incredible. We felt like we were making history, even before the record-breaking attendance was announced. Kyle Field is already an amazing place, and this just took it to another level.”
The person added, “So many Texans grew up on George Strait, so to have him perform in the heart of Aggieland where he is so beloved, was something really special. From packed floor seats to the top rows on the highest deck, everyone was all in for George.”
They continued, praising Strait’s commitment to honoring first responders, law enforcement, and veterans in an inspiring display of patriotism. “On top of that, the way that he honored American heroes throughout the show was so inspiring – from ‘The Weight of the Badge’ video featuring local police officers, firefighters, and first responders – to honoring a veteran on stage by giving her a new home – you could feel the patriotism radiating throughout the stadium!”
The American Tribune recently reported on other records set by the country music industry, where country superstar Morgan Wallen surpassed pop icon Taylor Swift for the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the most consecutive weeks.
One of Wallen’s latest hits with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” sat at the number one spot on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 list for 19 straight weeks, demonstrating Wallen’s cross-genre popularity that is increasingly blending with other mainstream artists.
