More and more country music artists are being exposed as radical leftists as the Trump administration marches forward, a fact made clear by the number of performers in the genre who pulled out of the Great American State Fair in June 2026. Historically, country is a genre that has been known to lean to the right, but it seems the times are changing.
One such artist is Martina McBride, who was originally scheduled to perform at the event to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary, but later pulled out of it, saying she was misled about it being nonpartisan in nature. McBride wrote up a short statement that she later posted on her social media accounts, explaining why she decided not to perform.
“I would like to talk to you and clear the air. I will not be performing at the Great American State Fair on June 25th. I was presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading. I asked lots of questions and was assured this was a nonpartisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states,” McBride’s statement began.
“In my mind, I thought this was a great way to celebrate the states and also bring people together in the way that only music can. I saw it as just a bigger version of so many state fairs I have performed at over the years, celebrating community and what makes each state special. Sounds fun, right? Wholesome even. Yesterday things started changing and what we were told is, in fact, not what is happening,” she said.
“I’ve spent my entire career singing songs about real people with real issues. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to be a voice for those who have felt like they didn’t have one,” she continued. “It greatly upsets me that any fan who has been moved by my music may now feel like I’m abandoning the meaning behind those songs.”
“I assure you, that is not the case. I appreciate every single fan who has reached out. I hope to get back to the DC area very soon,” the statement concluded. While there were some who were supportive of McBride’s decision, most were furious with her and all the other artists that were coming out as left-wing during Trump’s time in office.
Just shut the fuck up. Literally, I assure you nobody fucking cares. Go cry in your pillow, honey. Kthxbye 👋 https://t.co/LIhQD29WDP

One user angrily commented on an X post containing the statement, saying, “Another ‘country artist’ exposed as just another COUNTRY FRAUD!!! These f***ers stick together: Garth, Tim McGraw, Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, The Dixie Chics, Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Jason Isbell, Tyler Childers to name a few. BOYCOTT THEM ALL!!!”
Another person slammed McBride as having a big ego, commenting, “Nobody cares. She’s got an inflated sense of self.” Someone else tore into McBride and said she could work with other notable leftist country musicians like Garth Brooks and the Dixie Chicks. “She can get together with the Dixie Chicks and Garth Brooks and have a Red Commies of Country tour or something. Sheesh,” the user said.
