Corrupt Democrat Who Stole Millions of Dollars of Emergency Funds Now Faces Expulsion from the House of Representatives

Disgraced Florida Democratic Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick faces a 15-count federal indictment for allegedly conspiring with her brother and others to steal $5 million in FEMA overpayments from a 2021 COVID-19 vaccination contract, laundering the funds through multiple accounts, and funneling portions into her congressional campaign via straw donors and personal expenses. Additionally, the Democrat faces tax fraud charges for false deductions.

Now, piling on to the scandal-ridden Cherfilus-McCormick, Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) announced plans to censure her and seek expulsion. Despite the damning evidence, she denies the charges, calling them a political sham. Conviction could mean 53 years in prison.

Starting a salvo of criticism directed the way of the corrupt Florida Democrat, Rep. Greg Steube took to X to announce his plans to hold her to account in Congress. He said, “Tomorrow morning I will be filing a privileged motion to censure Rep. Cherfilus-McCormick and remove her from all committees. This is one of the most egregious abuses of public trust I have ever seen.”

Digging into the details, he kept going. “Stealing $5 million in taxpayer disaster funds from FEMA of all places is beyond indefensible. Millions of Floridians have relied on FEMA after devastating hurricanes, and that money was supposed to help real disaster victims,” Steube noted.

Wrapping up his thorough social media denunciation, the Republican continued, stating, “And once House Ethics concludes their investigation or she is formally convicted, rest assured I will move to expel her from Congress.”

Offering a weak rebuttal, Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick issued a lame statement: “This is an unjust, baseless, sham indictment — and I am innocent. The timing alone is curious and clearly meant to distract from far more pressing national issues,” she claimed.

Refusing to accept responsibility, she whined, “From day one, I have cooperated with every lawful request, and I will continue to do. I am deeply grateful for the support of my district, and I remain confident that the truth will prevail. I look forward to my day in court. Until then, I will continue fighting for my constituents.” Watch Hakeem Jeffries try to defend her here:

Issuing a harsh reaction, FBI Director Kash Patel explained, “This individual and her family allegedly stole money from FEMA and then laundered it through friends toward her own personal benefits — including her campaign accounts. Today the FBI and partners at DOJ took action. No one is above the law.”

Following up, he noted, “When FEMA funds are diverted for personal or political gain, it erodes trust and harms us all. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure that American taxpayer dollars are used as intended.”

Likewise, AG Pam Bondi slammed the cynical Democrat for allegedly “Using disaster relief funds for self-enrichment is a particularly selfish, cynical crime. No one is above the law, least of all powerful people who rob taxpayers for personal gain. We will follow the facts in this case and deliver justice.”

However, the defendants’ attorneys continued to claim that she was the victim of a vast conspiracy. “She is a committed public servant, who is dedicated to her constituents. She is innocent of these charges and looks forward to her day in court, her attorney alleged.
